I'd rather have Claussen on a burger or sandwhich and Grillos by themselves.

Not knocking anyone's opinion - but today I finally found and bought some Claussen sandwich slicers. Then my wife helped give me a blind taste test - and I got 6 out of 6 tests correct! Claussen's were good, but IMO Grillo's are better! Now, as long as I can keep buying Grillo's I will!

Do the sliders taste any different over the spears?  I can see the bite from the Claussen stand out more on a cheesesteak.  I only have had the Grillo`s spears though.

The halves are where it's at with the Claussen's.

The Grillo "sliders" tasted like salty cucumbers to me. Haven't tried the spears yet.

Bought on impulse few years ago, seasoned but haven't tried yet. Interesting story ... seller was a US military guy who married a canuck, they relocated to GWN for a child who needed (may still need) ongoing expensive medical treatments, thanks to our universal health care.

As much as we bust his balls around here, a recommendation from @RRP for a product is a slam dunk winner in my book!

I love Claussen's but I think the halves are under pickled. I love the spears, wholes, and burger slices. I'm willing to bet I wouldn't prefer Grillo's either, but I'll try them if I can find them.

Fair enough. I like the crispness of the halves. I will add that I find the Claussen's brine superior to the Grillo's. I need to try the Grillo's spears (and the spicy), but the chips felt like more of a refrigerator pickle to me.

When it comes to pickles and bacon frying opinions (not to mention carrot cake), this site has few rivals. Love it!

Any luck tracking down some kick-butt carrot cake during the pandemic, Ron?
No - I want to find a retail source for that sold to businesses by Aramark, but it's just wishful thinking at this point.
Wegmans has really good carrot cake. Mrs. 500’s favorite (on the rare occasion she eats it)

I used to pour pickle juice down the disposal (which freshens it up a bit, supposedly) but since trying this a few months ago, the leftover juice has been repurposed.   :)

I picked up the Italian Dill Chips at Wegman’s a few days ago.  Nice addition to my Friday night cheeseburger (and my Saturday afternoon one, too).

Speak of the devil. This showed up in the local Cub Foods circular

I picked these up at Aldi today so I'll hold off on the Grillo's but nice to see they're available locally.

@StillH2OEgger The pickle itself isn't necessarily anything special but the flavor has some heat. Most of the time anything labeled hot, spicy, atomic, etc is usually a let down. These actually have some bite. Going to grab another tub of them tomorrow.

I found Grillo’s at Whole Foods here, but we are currently on a condiment freeze, so I had to hold off (I think we have 5 kinds of pickles in the fridge right now)

You'll get ever better results brining in Claussen pickle juice :)

If your Costco carries them they will be in the refrigerated section.

Thanks for posting about these pickles. I am a pickle snob - want the best!  I would not have known about these without your post. Much appreciated!

Salt Lake City friends: I noticed this morning that our local Harmon's grocers now carry Grillo's, whoop!  I picked up a quart of the "Hots", delicious!
And, yeah, the package is ridiculous.  I opened mine in the sink, there's no way you can initially open it without spillage, there's no air space in the container whatsoever (they may do this to increase shelf life, I notice that my large bottles of V8 also have no air space in them).  And it was a fight to get the lid snapped back on; my arthritis gets much worse and I'll have to go back to Boar's Head.
