Ammo sources
Random question, I know there are gun owners on this forum so I’ll ask. Anyone have a go to for rifle ammo (online source)? Having tremendous difficulty putting my hands on ammo for 6.5 mm Creedmore. Tried all the usuals. Looking for Berger Bullets, 135 grain classic hunter. Thanks in advance.

I have been able to get some ammo from Academy. SGA Ammo has had good availability in a variety of calibers. But I’m usually buying handgun ammo so not sure about your Creedmore.

check out www.gunbot.net its an automated resource that lets you filter by ammo type and pricing per round is displayed. Its super useful when places are not sold out.South Central Kansas

I have bought 6.5 Creedmore at Academy before Coronavirus but I haven’t checked since they reopened. Not your particular load though. I stick with 140 grain loads.

I've used budsgunshop.com. They even deliver to the nanny state of new york, when most other companies won't.

I believe Buds is one of the top gun retailers online. I thought I read somewhere they were number two for online sales.Dondgc said:

Found a bullet hole in the bed of my truck, right above the tail light all the way through. Bullet should be in the bed some where. not sure what to make of that.

Way cooler than those lame bullet hole stickers what people buy.alaskanassasin said:Found a bullet hole in the bed of my truck, right above the tail light all the way through. I reload for my .280AI. Didn’t wanna invest the $600 in dies and components just yet. Also, the Berger ammo is Lapua brass and I’m saving every piece of itleemschu said:Gunbroker. I reload so I can’t help much but used to buy mine there for 45 and 223

Gunbroker for the Creedmore stuff. Cheaper than Dirt has screwed a bunch of folks I know in the past. No recent reports on them but I'd be careful. Other than that the sites that scan for best price is what I use to buy ammo.
Fortunately after Hillary Bob lost the election she was going to win the gun companies bet wrong too. I bought up ammo and guns that has been a better investment than my virtual miner set up... damn halving! -
Thanks for all the suggestions. Strike outs across the board. Contacted Berger to see if the ammo was discontinued

This may be what I switch to. Berger itself makes ammo in the 135 grain. Hate to have a rifle dialed in and have to swap ammo cus I can’t find any. The Berger grouped really well at 100, putting 5 shots inside of 1 moa. Shooting an AR-10Dobie said: -

For those that aren’t particular about the brand, if you live near and subscribe to the adds from Rural King, you can get some very good deals now and then.

I agree, just sucks cus I have my dope chart already printed for the rifle. We shoot to 750, makes a world of difference knowing what your drop is at what rangesalaskanassasin said:it should not be too far out when you switch over ammo -
How do you adjust for different wind conditions? Or do you shoot indoor to 750?ColbyLang said:

Adapting is all part of the challenge. It’s ok to have more than one dope chart.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
All of my long range scopes have external adjustable turrets. No need to remove caps and use a penny. We dial for distance and usually holdover for wind, unless it’s really blowing bad.

Generally speaking, and I'm sure I'll catch some criticism from this, but if you stick with NATO standard calibers, you'll probably always find ammo plentiful on the open market. If that means you shoot 1.5 MOA vs under 1, and that makes a difference, then load it yourself. That said, if you need that kind of accuracy hunting, you're probably in a very small minority and you can do better by being closer.

I've done pretty much that, I primarily shoot 5.56, 9mm, and .45ACP
I do have a 6.5 Creedmore and a .50BBG but the only one I have trouble getting cheap is the 6.5. The .50 you can get military surplus for a decent price.
