Covid foolishness

use of charcoal BBQs banned where I live due to Covid, they claim it will reduce the probability of fires.

I live north of Toronto in a town, the ban applies to the entire county.  Meanwhile toss your cigarette butts where ever you please.

You sure? Here it reads if you own the property you can use charcoal grills. Im in Ontario too and we just had a radio announcement saying grills are fine at home, just no "open" fires. I ran the egg all weekend

A quote from the local newspaper published late last week. "Open air burn ban in effect...Only propane and natural gas barbeques ...are permitted for the cooking of food"

But I can see in your link that despite being in a Restricted Fire Zone given that I own the property this should not be a problem.

Typical government, one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.

Thanks, I'll keep the link handy should there be a problem, not sure which level of government (local vs provincial) takes priority in this situation.

Ya i think the idea is to keep people from congregating around a fire which is common practice on weekends here. Also to keep emergency services freed up as they are quite busy right now. I see crown land camping restrictions were put in place this weekend too up until the end of April, but i'm sure it will be extended.  I think this is all being put in place now as May long is quickly approaching.
