Thoughts on almond wood?

Anyone here smoked with almond wood? I live in California, and it's pretty abundant, but I've never smoked with it. I had been under the impression that it's very transparent, with high-heat and minimal flavor (hence its use in pizza ovens), but recently someone told me that that's not the case--that it has a really nice smoke flavor when burned properly. Now I'm considering picking some up. Anyone here used it before? How was it? I'd also love to hear your thoughts on olive wood. I've been considering that, too.
