MiniMax nest foot modification and solution

The rubber pads on my MM disappeared one by one over the last 2 years. I move that egg a lot, and finally I put a scratch on a table tonight, so time for a final solution.
Went to a TrueValue, so these are their part numbers:
4 - 1.5” stainless screws.
4 - 1.5” stainless screws.
8 - stainless washers
4 - stainless locknuts
They did not have the rubber stoppers I wanted so off to Ace to get 4 of those (also grabbed 2 bags of rockwood while there):
Got home and pulled out the drill bits that I needed:
11/64 - for putting a pilot hole in the rubber stopper
4 - stainless locknuts

Got home and pulled out the drill bits that I needed:
11/64 - for putting a pilot hole in the rubber stopper
3/16 - for drilling the feet of the MM nest
7/16 spade bit - so I can countersink the washer and screw in the bottom of the the new rubber foot.
After drilling the foot, I hit it with a bit of black rustoleum paint. (Pre-paint shot)

Drilled the stopper:
Once assembled, the screw head was recessed even more then it shows in the above picture.
Then I hit them with a bit of liquid electrical tape to make the nuts black
Done:
Not including the time I spent getting the parts, it took me 45 minutes to do this. I hope this helps someone else looking to solve the same problem.

Nice mod Mark. For the non handy folks out there, you can buy threaded bumpers instead of drilling.

johnnyp said:nice mod. do you expect the rubber stoppers to hold up over time?@Lit Yes, I saw the @NPHuskerFL mod years ago and kept it in the back of my mind. Without hunting for the thread, I remembered the basics and went from there.@DoubleEgger when I went looking for something for the feet, I did not find anything that was exactly what I wanted. The diameter of the screw was either to thin or too thick, or the rubber foot was too big or too small etc..... I am sure that I could have bought pre-made online -amazon has just about everything, right??? - but with all the measuring and verifying of sizes, it would have taken longer than just doing it myself. When that occurs, I like to just make my own. As you know, I like my projects. Sometimes that gives me more joy than the finished result. That was really the impetus of this post: for others that like to do the same thing as me, I thought I would provide the detailed parts list and step-by-step to save them time. If they wanted to do it themselves. Hopefully it helps someone in some way.--------------------------------------------------

Nice mod. However, please don't take it the wrong way... since you move it a lot, just wondering if something like this crossed your mind?

I move it a lot between my house, friends houses, small trips, and even in and out of my garage to my deck. So when I move it, I usually carry it.Honestly, I never thought of putting wheels on it. Thinking about it more, I could see forgetting to lock the wheels and the egg going over the edge and going all Humpty Dumpty on me. I do not think I trust me that much to have it on wheels. But for some that might be a good option.--------------------------------------------------

Good solution there. I was thinking of using the big heat shrink tubing with the glue in the middle. Your idea is much cleaner.

This is great. Should also help not get whatever surface is underneath get as hot

My solution was putting the MiniMax on things that I do not care should it get scratched.
Did I mention I am lazy, unmotivated and a slob? Sloth is my lifestyle.
Very cool solution Mark. I may have to try that.
