Ive been struggling to figure out ways to light up the BGE while cooking at night or when darkness catches me. I have tried house mounted, tripod mounted, head band, and other lights.
Finally ended up trying several versions of these magnetic lights. Each with various style "light heads". Found this particular one the best. Comes with 2 in a pack. about $15 and runs on AAA batteries. Also found same ones that are usb rechargeable . Modified two small "L" brackets and high temp painted them. So far amazing is all I can say. LED, natural light bright as heck. Hope it helps someone. I tried the 9 led round head and the adjustable beam version. This ufo style has the best beam spread and it's soft even natural looking light. No hot spots. photo without any lights on, and then with.

I have two flood lights that light up the deck where my egg sits. IF I need more light, I have a couple of Olight flashlights that can easily clip onto a cap bill and throw plenty of lumens at whatever I'm looking at. I tend to get the versions that are rechargeable so that I don't have to worry about buying batteries.
If you're located where it gets below freezing, and you continue to use the egg (should be SOP for us all), get some lithium batteries for your lights. I've changed over things that sit outside for extended periods and it really helps. Cold weather performance of typical batteries sucks (well known fact).Large BGE with CGS Woo Ring, stone with stainless pan, Smokeware chimney cap, Kick Ash basket and Kick Ash can.Living free in the 603 (Pelham). -
My XL has an easy life. Roll it out of the 10 x 12 shed, and crank up the lump. Shed has overhead flood lights and outlets. After the cook (egg gets down to 250), I roll it back into shed and close double doors.

I move my egg table around quite often, depending on the wind, time of day, the season, etc. So a stationary light really doesn't work for me. Can you provide some close up pics of how you mounted to the bands, and link to the lights?
I bought one of these lights, and had it mounted to the handle. It would fold down 90 degrees when I closed my lid. The light was outstanding. The problem I ran into was the rising heat when I opened the lid. The lens have some distortion now from being melted slightly.

Thanks for the replies. The brackets can support the high heat but do not actually touch the grill much. I utilized the existing bolts on the band itself. It holds the wooden shelves. Also there are extra holes with bolts already there around the egg itself.I used a washer and lock washer behind the bracket and the existing nut to tighten it up. Holds it fine, other than the washer contact nothing touches the egg. Since my egg was demolished in a windstorm and its a rebuild. This was the first test burn for me after repairs. Got egg up to appox 700 degrees. Lights are magnetic and I pull them out when I need them, other wise they are in the case they came in. Offered in various colors including green. High temp paint. Adjustable lights. fold out the way but heat wasn't an issue. $14.99 for black, $17 for silver, and theres green blue etc. I was testing various lights that were similar and had 4 different types. These were the best for me.It wont surprise me that BGE will have an exact set in green out for about $49 soon. Also they are about $5 from the Chinese mail order if you dont mind the wait. Brackets stay, bring them out as needed.Columbus, Ohio
