Thread Hijack - @Great_EGGspectations I am not an art enthusiast by any means; however, the day I walked around the corner, looked down the hall and saw “Dave” (that is how we refer to him now) for the first time, I was awestruck. I literally stood there in awe.  As I am sure you know, as you got closer and could see the details, it is an incredible sculpture. Even in my art uneducated mind it rightfully deserves every ounce of recognition and attention it gets in all the books and documentaries it is mentioned in. thank you for stirring up that memory.

I wear an apron all the time when I cook. My only suggestions would be be make sure it has big enough to pockets hold a beer. Make sure you take the thermopen out before you throw it in the washing machine. I probably have at least a half a dozen that I cycle through.
Guilty as charged. I opened my thermapen up after a wash one time, set it in the sun on the front porch, and it works great now.

The secret was rinsing the inside with distilled water first. Leaves almost no residue to short...

I followed the advice here and picked up a Hudson, nice piece of protection.

I've been a chef's coat wearer for years, this may replace it especially for outdoor cooking in the heat.

Other than the heat, it is hard to beat a coat for keeping yourself clean.

Apron when cooking on the BGE?? Nope.
    Apron when cooking anything? Nope.
    Apron when forging something? Yup.
Only because hot metal sparks/flecks tend to hut when they hit your legs (or parts a bit higher). I do make sure to cover up when I MIG weld or plasma cut too. But that's just being smaht.
