Lovely tree, @PigBeanUs . Appears you’re well endowed with swine, beans, beautiful family and good fortune.PigBeanUs said:We’re all set here

We usually have a house full at Christmas and thanksgiving but this year decided to take it easy and only have the two of us for both and relax and enjoy the days. At thanksgiving we only had the two of plus wife's 2 granddaughters that live nearby and at Christmas we are going camping nearby and coming in to town to visit the two children and the grandchildren that live near us then return to camp. The holidays with many guests that stay for several days and do not want to help with things is too much as we get older and we need to have a year for ourselves at holiday time. Will watch for Santa by a campfire.I XL and 1 Weber Kettle And 1 Weber Q220 Outside Alvin, TX-- South of Houston

I was disappointed to find that the $100 tree we usually purchase at Pike Nursery has gone up to $170 and the selection is sparse (at best). Skipped buying one there and SWMBO is actively searching for an artificial. Never thought I'd see the day.

We used to buy real trees each year, but there are some pretty awesome pre-lit artificial trees available these days. We bought our current one a few years ago. Can’t tell it’s artificial unless you feel it. The ease of it all is pretty nice, plus less messy.GATraveller said:I was disappointed to find that the $100 tree we usually purchase at Pike Nursery has gone up to $170 and the selection is sparse (at best). I was told by a Christmas tree guy this week that everybody has raised prices because trees are scarce this year. He said the 7-9 foot trees that everybody wants are 10-12 years old which means they needed to be planted in 2007-2008. With the recession those years he said not many people bought live trees so not many new ones were planted. Made sense to me but I have no idea if that’s really the case.

Not me. I love it when everything is up, but hate putting it all up.

It’s always less work putting up all the outside lights, because we usually have 60 degree weather in late November. Taking it all down in frigid January sucks big time.

The plus side to having someone else put them up and take them down....they show up every year first week of November and down second week of Januarylittlerascal56 said:It’s always less work putting up all the outside lights, because we usually have 60 degree weather in late November.
