No worries. Having a gun that fits you is better than having Brand XXX just because of the brand... You don’t have to have a $20k shotgun to get a proper fit.

I’m certainly not rolling in $$$, but I’m beginning to think about this investment like a BGE.  If I can swing it, why not go Browning A5, or Benelli SBE, if the fit and feel is right, what the heck.  I shoot just enough to want “more”. Plus, I don’t sell guns, guitars, cooking vessels etc.  I look at Stuff like this as buy once, right???   

Okay, now I’m just talking myself into this.   That price point certainly opens up more choices.

Guns are lifetime purchases for me. Fortunately my grandparents had the same beliefs. I’ve got several family heirlooms.

The standard “field grade” shotgun is built to fit the “average shooter”.  If you are tall and have long arms (me), you have to modify it to fit your build.  I require a longer “length of pull” which meant adding 1” to stock.  And then have stock cheekpiece cut and converted to adjustable, and raised 5/8”.  I did custom gunsmithing as a hobby, so my cost was zero. 

With the high dollar shotguns, the manufacturer builds in some of these adjustments, and you can do them at the range with a couple of tools, or stock spacers/shims. You get what you pay for.

Yea, I’d say spring the extra $$ and get the one you really want. If you buy something else, you will still be thinking about the one you really wanted and eventually buy that down the road too. Flip side, you end up with two guns 😎. 

Like with a lot of other things, I feel like you get what you pay for with shotguns, are there values out there? Sure, but if you want quality, usually you will have to pay for it. I like my m3000 but the finish just isn’t there, it’s an entry level semi auto. Good news is I don’t mind using it to paddle the boat if I need to. Also, my buddy’s m3500 doesn’t like 1oz loads so if you shoot a lot of clays that may be a factor.

Careful with the SBE 3 I’ve seen quite a few posts from people saying their copy shoots way off POA, I have not heard any problems with the SBE2 of that nature though and it seems like most people love theirs.
