Yay Rockwood!

My local Ace Hardware just started stocking Rockwood lump. I was having to drive eight miles (the horror!). Now only four. Celebrating by making a batch of Pork Belly Burnt Ends and some Chicken Wings for the Notre Dame/Michigan game tonight.
Michiana, South of the border.

  • Lucky you. It's still a 35 minute drive to the Ace that carries Rockwood for me.

Just a reminder for those near an ACE that does not stock Rockwood - you can always special order it.  Depending on the warehouse delivery schedule to your local ACE, it can take a couple of days to a week to get it.  SKU 8400772

I came across 4 bags of Rockwood in a Lowes grocery/hardware store in San Saba, TX, population 3100. That is the first time I have seen it stocked anywhere.

Their hardware section is sourced through Ace.  That's how they have it.  I always get confused when I see "Lowes" on the reports though.
  • I found it at TJMaxx on clearance last month for $5 for a #20 bag. I bought all 6 that were there. It was a good score I gave 1/2 to a friend.

It's weird hearing someone say they're getting groceries for dinner at Lowes.

I used to wonder how Lowes grocery didn't get sued by Lowe's hardware. Then I looked them up and Lowes grocery has been around a lot longer.

There's another "Lowes" out on the east coast too......grocery stores.  Apparently they were started by the same family as Lowes Home Improvement.  Not sure it the Texas / SW chain of Lowes has any relation to them, but I was thinking the same thing how they could both be selling hardware under the same name.

Kind of like Waffle House having to be called something else in Indiana for years.
  • What?!?!?!?   :o
TJ Maxx is a store in Mass that purchases stock from manufacturers that make too much and stores that overbuy.
