Suckers! Haha.... Just messing around. Trying to fit in with the rest of the ticket posts.

The dog and I just went and picked up the rest of the ingredients for chili and pack of beer. Chicken is on for the chili. Music about to be cranked up. So happy it's Friday!

    Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

    My all time favorite beer is Grain Belt Premium. You won't really find anything other than that here at the house. It's kind of hard to find at certain bars around here. The last time I ordered a beer at the bar they didn't carry Grain Belt Premium but they did carry Grain Belt Blu. (Blueberry flavored) It was strange when trying it out. It tastes like blueberry champagne. I figured I'd see if it was any different in cans. Not so much. I'm not really a fruit beer guy or any type of lemonades. I like my beer to taste like beer. I should have just grabbed my Premium. I don't think I can have more than two of these at a time. Way too sweet for me. I just figured I'd grab something different this time but stay within the Grain Belt family. I was wrong. 12 pack is going to last a while of this stuff....

    Haha. Also, define instant coffee. And while you’re at it, describe classic roast 😊. Almost seems like some red eye gravy is in order, but not with chili!

    You're on your own for that one NorthPilot06. I'm not a coffee drinker. I couldn't tell you the first thing about coffee. All I saw was that it said roasted on the label and went with it since the recipe calls for roasted coffee. I swear my wife is talking Spanish when order drinks at a coffee shop.

    That is a great looking pot of chili. I think coffee in the chili sounds great. I don't care for instant to drink but in a big pot of chili I am sure I couldn't tell the difference.

    Thanks SmokeyPitt. My wife is typically in charge of the coffee part. We were out of coffee and I grabbed what seemed basic enough to get by for the recipe as my wife uses pods for her coffee in the morning if she has a cup. 

    I'll splurge and ground up local brand name coffee beans when making Mikeys coffee rub. This cheap stuff I thought would do the trick since it's only going in chili.

    I was just making plans for some Brunswick stew, I think I will run that setup! 
    I found this setup works the best with this bigger sized stock pot. My lodge dutch oven is a hair too small for a double batch of chili. I could have probably gone legs up on the plate setter if the dutch oven would have worked. 

    I do have some green feet between the stone and stock pot to keep it elevated and from burning. Also double check your clearance from the pot and your thermometer stem. I had to remove my BGE thermometer so I didn't tweak the stem when shutting the dome over the stock pot. 

    I'm not sure if this cold front is going your way but we're right around freezing. Hopefully it stays warm for you and your crops. Stew will help that cold weather if you're getting any of it.

  • @WeberWho not a joke just trying to sell my 1 ticket.  Last 5 years I always missed out but this year I was able to get 4.  Had it all set and the crew to go.  Then today 5pm I hear I can't go... can you sell it.  Well doesn't seem that I can so taking the loss.

    Anyways, loving that the post got flagged for spam so that's fun.

    Been meaning to join the forum for some time just never did.  Have 2 lg eggs and love the low and slow or the cold smoke.  Egg owner for 7 years and live just outside Atlanta.

    We had some flakes too. Pretty depressing, but I'll bet the chili hit the spot. Looks great.

    Not much of a Premium fan, but really like their Nordeast. Great flavor for an easy drinker.

     Thanks for the advice, I figured you had a air gap otherwise things could get ugly.
     Harvest has been going good, I have been teaching my nephew to drive the combine, pretty much the only time I get to spend with him. Last night it drizzled so we probably won’t be able to harvest today but the work never stops. 
      Enjoy your chili my friend it is a crisp 37 here this morning.

    Welcome! @tbutleriv I'm going on 10 years with my first BGE. Which really doesn't mean a whole lot as I'm constantly learning or picking up things on the forum. That's why the forum is great. Lots of good folks here. It might not seem that way with all the flags you received. Don't take it the wrong way. People don't like it when new people to show up and only sell things. Really kind of a tight knit group here but is very open to new members willing to join and participate. I really don't think you can find a better forum. Especially given the amount of members here. People will literally give you the shirt off their back if needed.

    Coffee in chili is a common add-in; I have some instant in the cupboard just for chili.

    Schells ended up saving Grain Belt. I think Grain Belt bounced around 3-4 other owners before Schells took them over. Schells does a great job. Nordeast has really opened up a whole new chapter for Grain Belt and Schells in general. My cousin somewhat knows the Schells family and their son moved to Germany for a few years to study the craft of German beer. They offer all kinds of great beers now. I'm also a big fan of their Firebrick.

    How cool teaching your nephew about the combine. I'm fascinated with farming but I don't know much about it. Most of my relatives are farmers or retired farmers. I also have a cousin who works for AGCO/Rogator division. I spent a fair amount of time on them growing up. I really enjoy watching the Millennial Farmer on YouTube. He goes over what and why with farming here in MN.

    It's been wet around here as well. Farmers having trouble getting into fields. I'd imagine this cold weather doesn't help harvest any. It would be nice to get some dry days and warmer weather for you guys.

    I wonder. It's full blueberry in taste. Not very subtle. If you need a fruity beer in a recipe this beer won't let you down. It's not bad but too sweet to have more than a couple. My wife doesn't drink and she had the smallest little sip of it last night and said, "Wow, that is weird." All I can think about is blueberry champagne when drinking it.
