Some call them a beef pie or Runza. Beef, cabbage, onion, garlic. Old world Volga German food. Growing up in a German community in Kansas it was a staple, that we love!

Yep. I like to add a couple tablespoons of garlic, some steak seasoning and a couple dashes of Worcestershire along with onion.

I checked with my Kansas raised wife (Onaga, KS) and she confirmed they used to make these quite often. I think I just might get to try my first bierocks! In Northern IL, our German influence was in the form of kuchen.
