Well, after about 90 minutes its turned light grey and completely solid. I'm impressed so far.

JB weld designed for fireboxes? Color me interested.
I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.
-
Did you taste it first? Haha
-
@cookingdude555 where did you find that? I could use it in by next drum build...I can’t weld at all!!XL BGE, KJ classic, Joe Jr, UDS x2

@ryantt, I got the jb weld here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ID9M8JK/
It took about half of the small container for this fix. I applied a generous amount to all edges, and pushed them together. Luckily this break kind of fit together, so even without the goo, it would lock together, so no bracing or anything was needed. I have a fire ring in five pieces, and a base that has cracks too. They are warranty cast offs from three of us in my extended family, so I’m putting together a Frankenstein egg for fun. -
Well, update. I just picked up the firebox by the broken piece, and it solidly holds to the rest of the bowl like it was one piece. If it holds up to the 2400F claim that they have, I would say this was a huge success. The fact that one of its uses is for “outdoor grills” eases any worry I have cooking with it. I think I will also start the fire ring today. I will probably take a week to do that one as I will let each ‘weld’ cure in between applications so I don't have multiple wet joints to deal with.

Glad to see this. I'm in the "would rather repair than replace via warranty" camp on just about everything."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike
"The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand." - Deep Throat -
round two underway -
Would you still get the warranty replacement and keep using the original or are you saying you’d rather just not get something replaced under warranty?JohnInCarolina said:Glad to see this. I'm in the "would rather repair than replace via warranty" camp on just about everything.

I replaced this firebox under warranty. My bro in law replaced the ring under warranty, then this went off his table inside the cover waiting for his warranty. His base he replaced due to smoke leaking. That one we will see how it goes. I had an extra dome I bought because I wanted my warranty base to match my dome. This franken egg, I don’t care.Cornholio said:

The last one will combine the two halves. I anticipate this to be the most difficult. The dry fit lined up, but with a small addition of jb weld between the joints, it may be too much.
