So I’ve posted about our neighbor girl who is battling leukemia, this weekend Norah Grace signed us up to make them a meal. We were on our the_buckeye_bbq page when a request came in to help.
We put down bbq but what should we cook? I’m thinking a herb crusted yard bird with some grilled veggies, but need another side. Any suggestions? What about some homemade noodles tossed in butter and fresh herbs? It’s a favorite here. Maybe even do a home made pasta with fresh pesto since we are doing herb crusted chicken. I don’t know what to do. Help me come up with a plan.
Norah is going to make a cobbler and a loaf of bread, so we’ve got those 2 items down.

Ask Norah what she would like to eat, might be a little insight into what the neighbor girl likes. Or you could just ask her what she likes.
You're good people. -
@Smokin_Trout this is for the family, Addison isn’t able to eat solid foods just yet.XL BGE, KJ classic, Joe Jr, UDS x2

fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Mashed tater's w. lots of butter, and a little garlic. Something to sop up juices from the bird.Milkshakes for desert.

I would suggest a tray of perfectly ripe assorted fruit, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, berries, grapes, pineapple, kiwi, mango. A side of poppyseed dressing might be nice.
And, pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for dessert.IL -
FWIW,when I am cooking for people I have not cooked before I keep it very simple and my "go to's" basic cooks......Chicken Thighs Tri Tip Rice Pilaf salad and a roll, or whatever your go to basic cook is..........no matter it will be better than any "chicken tri tip and rice pilaf" they have ever had
Never cook something you have not done repetitively for something you are unsure of My 2 cents, YMMV

Baked Mac and cheese goes over well with kids assuming that there are other kids in the family.

Ok based on the suggestions we’ve received we will make 2 yard birds, backed Mac and Cheese, fresh bread, roasted veggies, a cobbler (with grilled fruit). Additionally we will provide a pork butt separated into 1lb packages vacuum sealed and ready to use or freeze.XL BGE, KJ classic, Joe Jr, UDS x2
