  • Thanks for the reminder. You’re always on the money with the gastronomical calendar. Now that you’ve flagged it, we all fully expect to see how you celebrate on the 29th.

I just picked up some turkey wings. Would it be sacrilege to cook ‘em up for the occasion?

For anyone looking for a killer wing recipe. This honey garlic recipe is absolutely delicious.....

@GrateEggspectations No issue with the turkey wings here but I find them too much work for the reward.  Too many ligaments and tendons for me.  FWIW-

Had them, but have never made them. You mean you hit tendons and ligaments as you’re munching on them?

Monday eh? We do Meatless Mondays so perhaps some crispy baked buffalo tofu "wings" will fit the spirit of the day (the chickens certainly won't mind).

If you have had them and enjoyed them then you got some great wings. For me, I hit too much non munchable stuff. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.  FWIW-

@lousubcap no crabs for you? They are a lot of work, and very little gained, but I love to eat them. King crab legs can fill you up. Dungeness I can break even on, but blue claws I can eat all day and not fill up. I still love them though.  Just wondering.

@Sea2Ski - I enjoy wrestling with crabs as I expect the level of effort to gain the reward.  When in the mood for wings, wrestling is not in my game plan.  Thus chix legs (especially the flapper) for the win.   Guess it's just my personal mind game.

I have some new recipe ideas that I've been mulling over and I'm off on Monday so this is a good time to test them out.  Ain't no thang but a chicken wang.

In the fridge for the overnight air dry.

Thanks Frank. With the children home for school, this cook will be celebrated and there will be no prisoners.

@SmokeyLopey Absolutely count-there are broad windows of opportunity for acknowledgement of this great day.  @C@CigarCityEgger late night/early morning , it's all for a great banquet!

For those of us that are not dedicated enough to count points, give us a reference, how many points is a "Big Mac" from the Golden Arches?

The ol Big Mac is 17 points. I don’t usually eat there, but I use to love their Large Frappe Mocha (with whip cream)....is 35 points. That one beverage exceeds my current allowance of 32 points a day.

A very late lunch as things got in the way:
    Extremely raised direct around 350-400*F.
Slathered in a sweet hot mustard sauce before inhaling.  I even staged the pic-alternating drummers and flappers.  B)
National Chicken Wing Day- go again next year for the day and many times in between for the pure goodness.  Thanks for lookin!
BTW- still time to get in on the festivities.
