    I want to know that if I drop a cement block on the pointy end in my truck bed from 20 feet with no bed liner that it will hold up better than the competition.

    I wholeheartedly disagree with this. Perhaps a few hard core users care but the overwhelming number of people only care about bells and whistles, curb appeal, and warranty. There’s no rating system or published data on the quality/type of ceramic used so there’s no real way for an average potential purchaser to determine which one has better ceramic.

    It’s like the car ads from the 60s to today. Back then, ads mentioned engine displacements, rear end gear ratios etc. Now all folks want to know is where the i phone charger is. I would suspect that the hood is never opened on at least 80% of new car purchases.

    Yep...I know I'm not a materials scientist so I have no idea exactly what denotes a higher quality ceramic for the purpose of using in a kamado.

    Is more dense better than less dense? Is smoother better than rougher? Is thicker better than thinner? Is more porous better than less porous? Is the color of the ceramic (not the glaze) a useful indicator of the relative quality of the material?

    Beats thehellouttame.

    @DoubleEgger @HeavyG

    I am all about phone chargers made from high quality ceramics.

    If it can kill a ribeye along the way, I will own it.

    I agree this is a little like buying tires for your vehicle vs. speed rating alone.  One tire is rated at 150mph and another might be rated at 180mph.

    Most cars can't hit 150MPH anyways so buying the 180 based on its better at a test that isn't possible to achieve doesn't make a lot of sense.

    I don't think an Egg, KJ or Primo can operate at a temp hot enough at full burn to melt itself so its kind of an irrelevant test.

    That being said, i enjoyed the melted one lol

    KAB is coming out with a can for the MMx soon.  That will make it super easy to clean.  I hate that little ash tool!!!!
    FYI they released kick ash cans for XL, Med, and MM on July 13th. I ordered the XL that same day and it is being delivered today, pretty excited.

    I wish KAB would release a Can for the Joe Jr.   I love my overpriced dog bowl with a hole in it for my Large Egg.  I have the basket for my Joe Jr.   really want the fan, too.  Using them keeps my screened porch so much cleaner.

    I have both, I like the Joe Jr better. The thermometer on my Minimax is much faster and more accurate that the Joe Jr. The Joe Jr has a bigger intake and better distance for direct cooking.

    I have a Joe Jr and a large bge. I love them both, the Jr gets used way more often since there are just 2 of us.  Interesting that I have defective ceramics on the egg (chips falling out of the dome) but the Jr looks like new.

    The CEO of Primo can re-fire that BGE for you to get those ceramics as good as new.
