Is the rEGGulator worth it?

  • I currently have the daisy wheel lid.  I was wondering what the rEGGulator sales for (size large) and if it's worth it to upgrade. I don't mind grilling the rain or snow.
I have all three caps and just did a review not long ago here - https://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1219492/vent-cap-showdown-daisy-vs-smokeware-vs-reggulator-which-is-best-my-winner-is/p1

    hope it helps
Thanks for re-posting. I knew it was on here somewhere and wasn't able to find it. Thanks, again, for your thorough review and repirt!

I'm providing a reference for those of you who use the DFMT and the "how to use it so that it doesn't move" set-up.

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.
  • I bought the Smokeware cap but it is already unusable. After the first brisket, I had to pull it off to get the vent turning again. After the next use smoking ribs, it was stuck even worse. I'm giving up on it. I'm not sure how you are supposed to prevent it from getting stuck, but I don't want something that is high maintenance. Besides, it is too big and gets stuck in the cover. The daisey wheel does tend to get stuck trying to turn occasionally, but not nearly as bad. Had it for ten years now.  I reverted back to it for now.  I don't want to replace any more ceramic caps. I've had a few break as they can be slippery when handling BBQ. Whatever vent I use will be the cap as well. I think I'll try the rEGGulator next.

I like the rEGGulator fine- I really only use any cap for low and slow or if its raining.

Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting.  The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.
