if you have ever thought “I might want one”, what is a discount that would make you pull the trigger on a New XXL?

Funny the other day I thought about getting a minimax to go with my XL, but for some reason started thinking about the 2XL (different that XXL I believe). Given that for me it's not very practical, 50% at $1,000 would probably get it done.Milton, GA

Two different egg designs. The 2XL is slightly shorter and lighter where the XXL is taller, heavier, and more expensive.ColtsFan said:

The local dealer had a XXL sit for a year at 2k. I'm not sure what he ended up selling it for."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

Correct on the redesign, but my point was XXL and 2XL mean the same thing.WeberWho said:

I've always refereed to both as 2XL. I was unaware that BGE officially changed how they referred to it. Thanks~ John - Formerly known as ColtsFan - https://www.instagram.com/hoosier_egger

Nope. Now you have to refer to either by the exact date of production. Don't get it mixed up!ColtsFan said:

The 2XL is basically a 29" diameter version of the XL. Has the same short/squat design of the XL and MMX. The original XXL was taller and had a profile that was kind of between the L and XL......much deeper fire box.
KJ went the other direction and added 4-5" in height on the bases of the Classic and the Big Joe on the new Gen3's.

I’m buying a 2XL today. I’m paying $1700. I let an XL and a medium go to help fund it. Picking it up later today. I like the design changes compared to the XXL. Especially the cost change.

i would be nervous if fireboxes were still available down the road for an xxl, they might not have them now

They made a 1000 of the "Ed Fisher Limited Edition" of the XXL. I think there were quite a few more XXL's. Problem was, they were not selling because you could buy two XL's for less money than a XXL (and have more cooking area than a XXL.) So they had to drop the price.cookingdude555 said:Photo Egg said:

BTW, I have a barely used XXL/2XL nest, handler, cover, and mates I'll make you a great deal on if you haven't bought them yet. I swapped a guy some stuff since he was going to move his XXL into an island. I was going to buy a XXL, but then they switched it to the 2XL and I didn't want it anymore. -
Yeah if that happens they might end up replacing the base. That's what they had to do with my old medium......new firebox and ring wouldn't fit in the base, so I got a new base.fishlessman said:i would be nervous if fireboxes were still available down the road for an xxl, they might not have them now -
@stlcharcoal, I think you are spot on. The cost was prohibitive to making the product move. I think the new 2XL will be more successful. I would be interested in the mates. I got the rest from the dealer at cost. Does the cover fit over the 2XL with the mates attached? I would assume so, but not sure.stlcharcoal said:

The XXL and 2XL must hold an entire 20 lb. bag of lump!!

Ultimately, I think a lot of XXL owners will end up with 2XL bases and fireboxes if they keep them for the entire lifecycle of the product (eventual warranty replacement will be 2XL base and internals).stlcharcoal said:

Ok thanks. I went by and paid him my cash, so its done. I just have to pick it up on the way home from work. Once I get it set up, I will send you a PM to work something out.stlcharcoal said:

Got her home and in the backyard. Man this thing is big. Had to carry it piece by piece from the car.

It was the display 2XL, and as such, had been assembled, broken down, and reassembled in my yard. The top band bolt was hosed. It stripped going back on. It would not back off after I realized it wasn’t tightening. I had to cut it off. Luckily I have a few replacement carriage bolts hanging around from other egg repairs and put one on. I’ve always had an easy time with dome alignment getting it just right by loosening everything, getting it perfect, and retightening. This thing was far more difficult because of the dome weight. Shifting the dome requires pushing pretty good. The nest handler also had several loose bolts.
Despite the trouble, it’s ready to cook lunch for a family hang out Sunday. -
Depending on the density of the lump, I can get 20# in my XL. The big boys could probably hold close to 40#OshawaDave said:The XXL and 2XL must hold an entire 20 lb. bag of lump!!

very likely. I put a KAB from an XL in it though, for now. When I sold my older XL, I kept the KAB knowing the fire grate from the XL and 2XL are identical. I probably wont fill it a whole lot more than what the KAB will hold.Photo Egg said:

At that price ($1700) did it include the stand?cookingdude555 said:I’m buying a 2XL today. I’m paying $1700. I let an XL and a medium go to help fund it. Picking it up later today. I like the design changes compared to the XXL. Especially the cost change.Northern New Jersey

I paid $2200 for the egg, conveggtor basket, two conveggtor stones, nest, nest handler, cover, and he threw 20 lbs of lump in for the first 10 minutes of cooking time. That was the cash price and included tax. List on it is $1999. My accessories were close to $600 over that. I've seen people get better deals, but this was by far the best that I could come up with in my area. My cost was essentially selling one XL for $700, a medium for $500, and then $1000 more on top of that.JMCXL said:
