New Large Table Build -- Solid Mahogany!
doubleapex
Posts: 82
The guts of the plan came from searedandsmoked.com.
As the title says...solid mahogany.
There are a few custom touches / changes along the way though.
I'm about 90% done with the build...so stay tuned for the final pics.
here's how it all started!
Basic frame done (went with a solid front
3 pics -- wood chip drawer under the egg (four spaces. Going with Red Oak, Hickory, Apple and Cherry)
The stainless steel slides are not installed yet, but you get the idea.
(That press board is the only thing not mahogany--tried to save some weight haha)
custom slide out cooler - 2 pics
(stainless hinges not installed yet--they have a 92lb capacity, 24" full extension)
working on the trim for cabinets--had to get creative with weights....
Trim attached -- hardware placed not installed yet
Varnish time! (I am using Epifanes Clear Gloss -- followed by Epifanes Matte)
continued below...

Beautiful. What size cooler are you rocking in that thing?

Oh my!

As one who likes to build things himself - I appreciate the amount of time, measuring, remeasuring, cutting, gluing, monitoring even varnish application, hardware placement decisions etc..... lots of hours put into that.
Excellent work. Enjoy using and looking at it. It is beautiful.--------------------------------------------------

Thanks for all the kind words...this has certainly been a labor of love! Hope to finish the table in a week or so and then have it fully functional in about 2 weeks.

man that looks awesome, i will leave a link to a table nest here, i am biased towards this one over the egg one but any air gap will protect that beautiful table.

Great work!! I especially like the vertical drawer next to the EGG. Whoever designed it deservers kudos, but your craftsmanship and material choice make this this a pure work of art.

"Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"

The story goes...his wife was convinced to give him an egg for his 40th. My old table was shot--so I suggested we build tables together. This first table is mine...we'll be building his next. -
Amazing craftsmanship right there. That is one awesome looking table. Can't wait to see the finished product.
