Copper River Sockeye Salmon, so Good!

I couldn't afford the Copper River King Salmon at 60.00 / pound, but I did have some EOY teacher gift cards, so splurged on some Copper River Sockeye at 29.99 / pound.  I imagine that if I liked caviar, this is what it tastes like when you get the good stuff.

6 years in TX, has kept me a long way away from the prices and fresh caught in Seattle, but once a year, I will splurge.

Tried something different and seared the salmon before putting on the cedar planks (soaked for a couple of hours and preheated one side at 400 for 5 minutes).

400 raised direct until 135.  Salted with a few herbs and a slice of lemon.  Grilled some asparagus on the small and served with rice.

Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX.  2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.

Looks delicious! Best salmon I ever had was in a waterfront restaurant in Seattle. Wonderful! Time for me to find a better source for salmon.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Ivar's?  I eat at one of them every time I'm in Seattle.

We've always purchased good Salmon at Costco at a reasonable price.  I got an email from Costco yesterday that said they had Copper River Salmon on sale yesterday (while supplies lasted). No idea what they had or the price, but their regular Salmon comes as several types - WIld, farmed, with and without antibiotics.  The usual price for their regular Salmon varies from $7.99-$9.99/lb.

No idea the name of the place. Too long ago.

Copper River salmon is one of the few things I miss about the Pacific Northwest.  Glad you got to enjoy it this year.  First time I got my hands on some, I smoked it with Alder wood and did some test tasting for quality assurance.  Half of one filet never made it into the house.
It's "Smokin Gal", not "Smoking Al".
