Warranty issue in Canada

Hi:

I'm looking for some advice here.  I came back from a holiday this winter to find the glaze falling off the dome (see photo)   I sent a pic of this to my dealer after they told me there would be no problem with a warranty claim.   I waited 6 weeks for an answer and then I sent them an email.  At that point they told me that this was not covered by the BGE warranty.  I have seen this type of damage before and as far as I remember the company has covered it -- after all,  I purchased this at a huge inflated Canadian $ price based on the "fantastic" warranty.   It looks ugly sitting beside my Joe Jr that has no damage at all. I feel I would like to escalate the issue but I wanted to check in with you guys first and see if anyone has some suggestions for me?

I would contact BGE Corporate and if they confirm it's warranty, I would go into the dealer in person (it's too easy to dodge people or say no through email) when the owner or manager was there and I'd be armed with back up and request they process your warranty claim.

That's a pretty crappy response from the dealer.

who is your dealer?  normally for small chips they give you paint, this looks pretty excessive

It took forever to have my warranty claim dealt with, the dealer said they didn't hear from the BGE Canada and vice versa. I think it took two months for bands. Regardless, I would contact BGE directly about the issue, if you PM me I can dig up the email i contacted.

Yep that should be covered under normal warranty. I have processed a few warranty claims like this. For smaller flakes and chips, they do have a touch up paint. But for this case, I would think they would warranty the entire dome. Good luck

Should be covered and will be covered by the Canadian Distributor thru your dealer, are two different things. I think Northwind still has BGE rights in Canada and as they are in Tranta and you are in Cambridge, distance is not a consideration. One of the primary reasons I bought in the US, short 50Km drive to Bellingham WA was the local issues with warranty coverage or lack thereof for many Canadian clients. Some good advice in the posts above, good luck thru your dealer.

My Dealer is revisiting this so I am hoping for a better answer.  I purchased this based on the warranty so let’s hope we get the service paid for!

Apparently  they are sending me a new dome. Too bad I had to make a stink first but glad they worked it out.

I remember tears ago people coming on here complaining that Canadian customer service sucked.  Looks like it still sucks, but sucks a little less since you did eventually get the service!
