Flatiron steak with "braai" rub

I am awfully lazy, these days, and I just didn't have the gumption to do much in the way of prep, etc..  So I thought maybe a steak with some sort of seasoning on it to jazz it up a little.  I looked in my cupboards and found an old jar of a "braai" rub that I've posted on before, here, went to the store, found a flatiron steak that looked appealing, had a good dinner:

It was a bit too salty for me, and I don't recall that before.  I must have put a lot more rub on than I had other times.  Still tasty, though.

You got some good color on that steak.  Certainly looks tasty.
It's "Smokin Gal", not "Smoking Al".

looks good to me.  been using your rub recipe with chicken thighs lately,  i cut the salt in half and used flaked kosher instead of regular for the chicken, its a really great rub recipe.

Interesting!  I've never tried it with anything but steak.  Thanks for the nudge to do so.  I'll probably follow your lead on the salt, too.

it burns fairly easy with the sugar and herbs so be aware of that, i like some charring with chicken though. if you make a bbq sauce that leans towards citrus, it goes well with the coriander

Love flatirons and you did that one quite proud.  Congrats on the cook-nailed it.
