Would be interesting at a third of the price. Also does not fit the BGE from what I’ve read. So it’s maybe kind of Doh!Joe instead.

Doesn't fit the new style hinge on Larges (and probably not any XL), but *might* fit the old Large BGE hinge.
I didn't watch all of the video, but one thing to note is that it comes with a Pizza stone. You use the half stones below it to insulate the full stone. So that's $50-60 of the price.
For the BGE, you can get the Pizza Porto and run two pizzas at once. Pretty slick setup. I've seen it in action a few times and they turn out some great pizzas.
-
I’ve seen the Pizza Porta too. One thing that’s worth emphasizing is that neither of these are designed to run at temps over 700. They’re much better between 550 and 650.

I think it's a good move on their part just to worry about their own unit. No more trying to just sell their accessories and charcoal to BGE'ers......get them to switch over completely. They have enough market share and years in to really go on the offense here. Not sure if that's what happened, but that what I would do.
But it's not like KJ changed their system. BGE is the one that changed the band and how it opened. KJ has always been the rear hinge......the Big Joe before the "airlift" hinge was one heavy mofo to open! Also, it was kind of funny how the old Large BGE were heavier to open than the Xl's. It fooled new buyers when they'd open them side by-side in the store.
Either way, the Joetisserie works because it is so skinny. The DoJoe is much taller, so the BGE lid has already started sliding back at that point. That's why it doesn't work.
The Pizza Porto has to be ordered for the old BGE / KJ, or the the new BGE hinge.

Eh. My pizza money is saving for a roccbox.

Been buying the Papa Murphys XLNY’s on Friday’s for $7. Pepperoni and sausage. They freeze well. I add onions, green rappers, or whatever is in the fridge. They are perfect for Friday pizza night with beer!

The pizza porta, nor that DoJoe that stole its design overcome the overwhelming heat from the bottom issue that all kamados have. They allow the heat to pool at the top a little, but the pie is still in the blast zone of the lower heat. I have a blackstone oven, and while the heat comes from the bottom, only half is concentrated on the pie, the balance bounces off a upper dome enabling the ability to really cook the top at the same speed as the crust (which kamados are terrible at). These gimmicks appear to turn a mediocre pizza cooker into a slightly more mediocre pizza cooker. I'd get a dedicated pizza cooker before these add ons (Roccbox, Ooni, Blackstone - if you can find one).
-
Have you used either?? They both are designed to use the plate setter or a second stone to deflect that heat below. The stone that the pizza sits on is not in direct heat and has at least a 1-2" air gap below it. Then the heat spins in the dome and escapes through the door (not the chimney.) I've had pizza off both (and the Roccbox & Uuni), and they're all pretty freakin' good. I'd rather have a kamado attachment, than something sitting on my deck. Try one out before you knock them.

So only those with one can have an opinion? I suppose we all have to buy one before sharing an opinion of one.

If yer gonna denigrate, familiarity with the subject is helpful.

true, but that would make things very boring around here.

You have no idea.

For some reason I'm reminded of that very old Saturday Night Live sketch where Bill Murray was giving his Oscar predictions and for the Best Picture category he grabbed one or two of the nominated films off his board and tossed them aside as he said "didn't see them" and then carried on with his prediction.

Exactly. I’m pretty sure I will end up with one of them, for scientific reasons.
