I am an appliance service provider and I am not a fan of either garbage disposals nor trash compactors. Nasty dirty things. On a single basin sink I would never consider one. Too many issues possible.

People run into problems on septic because they never have them pumped out. My FIL went 14 years before having his pumped. Was having issues, tank was full to the top with solids. Pumper dude said every 3 years to have them pumped out.

My BIL said the same thing.  3 years. I always made fun of his “honey wagon” when he drove it to work.  It really drew the flies, especially after he pumped KFC’s grease pit!

Yup.....that and moreover the installer.  As a real estate agent, I can tell you that septic system can come back and haunt the sellers if they built the house or didn't maintain it.  Any sale requires a clear well and septic inspection and often they find that the installer did not necessarily do it by design or to the spec (since it's all underground and who can tell right??)  It's big freakin bucks, especially if they need to bust through rock.  Septic inspections "tank" a lot of real estate deals.  I usually tell prospective sellers to get both tested PRIOR to listing, just so there are no surprises when the inspection period roles around.

Missouri also allows the service companies and installers do the inspections which is kind of a racket.  They come out and fault something, then they know you're chomping at the bit to sell and are more likely to use them since they're already there.  I always require an inspector NOT affiliated with a septic company to do the inspection.

I had an aerator (multi-flo) with a drip system on my old house.  And because of the cliff it was on, they didn't put a holding tank in the middle, nor did they backfill around the tank.  So, rocks cracked the fiberglass system and the pump tank had even more rocks leaning on it.  The drip system was barely in the ground, so you could see the lines in places after the erosion on that hill.  Soon as you mention the guy who put it in for the builder, everybody's eyes would roll and say "Oh.....[him]."  He had bought a bunch of the multiflo's for a song and was putting them in cheap--that's why the original builder used him.  The guy retired and closed the business, so good luck filing suit over the shoddy work.

We found the waste King L8000 on amazon for $139.  I think we’ll go with it, based on the reviews and feedback from here.  Thanks everyone.
