Might not be so lucky next time. There’s zero benefit to him by playing out the season. He’s going #1 regardless.

He’d be smart to play no more.  Glad it was a non injury.

Fair enough, although that applies to any number of projected lottery picks.  There’s a good twenty players who could legit stop playing now given their draft status.

Ok, I'm going to post my stupid self on a Friday.  There is no reason that ZW or for that matter  Marvin Bagley and  Wendell Carter Jr. to attend college for one year just to be eligible for the NBA.  If they are as good as Malone, Koby or James, why wait?  It's just the NBA trying to access talent before investing major $$$ into a high school player.

Because the minimum draft age is 19. There’s talk of lowering the age to 18 in the next CBA

I understand the rules...they are just stupid rules.   If a computer science major was offered as a freshman $150M would you say stay in school or stay for another year?

For $150M I would have skipped college no questions asked. Only reason I went to school was to get a good paying job. If there was another route I would have taken it.

The one and done is a NBA rule that looks like it will get changed but not until 2022.  Now that the NBA is getting more serious about developing a "farm system" aka the G league, they have less incentive to rely on the colleges to do their development as noted above.  So a small few players will be able to make the direct leap from HS to the NBA.  The colleges and G League will sort out the rest.  FWIW-
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.
