OT- Grade A5 Wagyu Olive Oil fed beef - The Holy Grail of steak

Tjcoley
Tjcoley Posts: 3,551
I was just able to eat the rarest (availability, not cooking temp, although it was cooked rare as well) steak in the world. Grade A5 Japanese Olive Oil fed Wagyu beef. There are only 2200 head of these cattle in the world, all of them in the Kagawa coast of Japan. They only butcher one or two per month, which is why it is so rare and unavailable.  And the Pappy Van Winkle bourbon was a great pairing with it.  They complimented each other very well.
So I can scratch that off my bucket list and add it to my obituary list. (I'm no longer padding a resume, I'm now padding my obit)
Now I need to locate the elusive Densuke Watermelon.

Great line there.  I like it.

Very cool about the steak, and the bourbon.

At least a discription of the incredibleness. You might have been in extremely black tie so Pic’s might have been faux pas, but tell us the shizz was worth the coin.

Amazing. Melt in your mouth buttery, powerful umami taste.

Unfortunately, no pics. I was so excited to try it that I didn’t think of pics until afterward.

Epic, especially to dine like a king in the heart of shutdown land.  I like your style ;)

edit: just checked their menu.  Wow! Sounds amazing.  Did you eat in their tent like bubble thing?

It was a private event. We had a room just off the bar, and this was an end of the night, off menu order

Unfortunately no. Official event was over and a few of us were just hanging around.  Got to talking with the Maitre d, and when he mentioned they had the A5 we couldn’t resist.
