I’m thinking it’s a pull out tray to collect the ash when you scrape it out.

I got mine at Smoken Products here locally in DFW, their web site is https://smokenproducts.com/shop?olsPage=products. 

It it is really nice, rolls very easily over rough surfaces and has that ash tray that pulls out that can handle hot ash.

@tjv can you PM me the cost of a replacement ceramic topper for a large egg. Mine fell off today and broke.

@The Cen-Tex Smoker   We'll carry them after the holidays - working with them right now on best way to handle shipping. I'll probably do a Facebook Tom's Tuesday Tips on them in January.  

@TEXASBGE2018 $29.95 for the ceramic damper top.  I need to verify but I remember some talk about them being discontinued at some point.  we have them.

That is a nice design. If they had one for a medium, with a built in handle like the BGE Nest Handler, I think I would have to consider it.

This rolls so easy. 
The side are great for HOT items and they hold a lot of weight.
