Welcome! It’s hard to beat pulled pork. Good eats await you.MAH7039 said:Im about as new as they come! Going to do a small pork butt, can’t wait! -
Pork butt was my very first BGE cook back in 2011. I had heard you want to break the egg in with a low and slow cook then proceeded to melt the gaskets off on my first higher heat cook soon after. Guess I didn’t break them in enough, talk about a discouraging start!MAH7039 said:Im about as new as they come! Going to do a small pork butt, can’t wait!

I am getting older (I think I am as senior citizen but any definition, not just AARP if you are over 50) and I need to shed a few pounds and watch my cholesterol. So I planked some salmon and stuck some asparagus and broccolini on the Egg. I am not a big fan of fin fish, but this was damn delicious. The veggies were good, too. I drizzled them in some olive oil and herbs, and put them in a wire basket for ease of turning. The tips of the broccolini got a little crispy, and my Ynette loved that. Not EVER giving up meat (waht would life be worth without happiness?) but I will be cooking more fish in the future.
If I replace the wings of a turkey with fins, will that count?XL BGE in San Jose, CA. Also a Pit Barrel Cooker, a Cal Flame P4 gasser, and lots of toys including the first ever Flame Boss 300 in the wild. And a new Flame Boss 500. -
I’m not much for fish but cedar planked salmon is pretty good. If you are going to put in the regular rotation, I recommend buying planks online. I’ve found some for less than a dollar each.Yno said:I am getting older (I think I am as senior citizen but any definition, not just AARP if you are over 50) and I need to shed a few pounds and watch my cholesterol.
