Only on the coals.  Probably 8 minutes total.

I’ve never done caveman.  Are coals at 600+, and about 4 minutes per side?? Do u have to scrape the ashes off when done ?  

You just want the coals burning very well and evenly. 600 ish would work. I kept the dome open so I didn’t have a dome temp. I flip about every 90 seconds until to the temperature I’m after. An occasional lump will need to be knocked off but the ash doesn’t stick to the meat.

Like @bgebrent , I run with the dome open and just flip away.  Burning lump surface temp is on the order of 12-1400*F so things happen fast.  Instant read thermo and long tongs for the win.  FWIW-
