Fall reflections.....and ramblings....

Down south we have had another wicked hot summer with high humidity blah blah blah..... Last night we had a couple of storms blow through the area with lots of lighting and thunder. When I got up this morning and headed out for the pup dogs walk....I could feel a hint of fall coolness. The rains had cleared the air and the sky's were clean and beautiful. For me, this is my favorite time of year. College Football, tailgating, grilling out (at its finest), pumpkin decorations (& lattes at Starbucks), some leaves finding their way to the ground, sun going down earlier......This signals the time of year where we cut grass less often, ......gather our firewood for the outdoor pit, move from cold morning beverages to hot, break out the long sleeves, and lace up the boots. We put away the shorts, sandals, repellents, sunscreen, and lets not forget the speedo's.
Here is wishing you all the best as we approach the best-est month of the year, October. Go out and get your fall beers, dig out those recipes for stews, order you a fall tie dye and listen to the music play. Ya'll enjoy.

I will go on record as saying I hate summer, and fall is my favorite season. Unfortunately out here on the left coast we don't get the kind of fall that I remember from my days in the east and in the south. Loved "sweater weather" for high school and college football, and the smell of burning leaves after a few hours of raking. Now that is ten minutes with a leaf blower and they get carted off to who knows where. But Good Lord, please let me and all my friends forget the Speedo's! We be too old for them things!
Nice looking pie. I love a bourbon pecan pie on the Egg. Yum!XL BGE in San Jose, CA. Also a Pit Barrel Cooker, a Cal Flame P4 gasser, and lots of toys including the first ever Flame Boss 300 in the wild. And a new Flame Boss 500. -

Summer is my absolute favorite season. Yes, it’s hot but there are ways of dealing with that. I love my flip-flops, shorts, tee’s, the beach, swimming in the ocean, fishin’, cold beer, and long days of sunshine. I get offended when someone asks me before Labor Day “How WAS your Summer?” and quickly remind them Summer ain’t over yet. That being said, I have developed a new appreciation for October with it’s clear skies, lower humidity, and cooler nights. It is truly a good time to start cooking more stews and soups and comfort food galore. Robin, that pie looks killer. Thanks for the reminder; I need to make one soon.Charlotte, NC

The beautiful display of aspen leaves changing from green to yellow to orange to red came a few weeks early this year. The mule deer are grazing more than usual and their coats are transforming from short tan to long dark gray.
We love fall in southern Colorado but living at 7,000 feet above sea level means keeping the snow shovel within reach at the end of September!Large Egg, PGS A40 gasser. -
I too love fall. But its still quite warm here in northeast Florida. I've go a week scheduled at a lodge in Asheville for the first full week in November. Hoping the weather is cold and the leaves are beautiful. Did it last year in the same time frame and we hit it perfectly.
In fact I love it from now until about April. Great weather for Egging, using the fire pits or for working in the wood shop. Been too hot this summer to do any woodworking.

If you like year round, high humidity, temps in the 90s to 100s, starting in March, lasting through to October, swarming mosquitoes 24/7 until the first hard freeze, freak snowstorms, tornadoes, high taxes, high crime rate, anti neighborhood politics, stupid traffic, and an ancient, failing, infrastructure, Downtown Louisville is your place. On an annual basis, there are more cloudy skies here, than in San Francisco, and the weather keeps most people in their homes at least 8 months out of the year.
Plus the kids wont stay off my lawn.
Do not even ask me about the rabbits.
However, the fall is the nicest, of the 2.25 seasons we have. It is why we choose to live here.

Fall is my favorite followed by close second of spring. I get to play farm in the fall and keeps me close to my roots. Beautiful sunrises in Iowa in the fall with a lot of cloudless and partly cloudy days, this morywas especially gorgeous. Temps are nice during the day and chilled at night, I sleep great. Looking forward to some great fall cooks as time allows.

Northeast Florida gets all 4 seasons. But some of them don't last very long. Like Fall is a week or less and sometimes winter is only 5 or 6 hours.theyolksonyou said:Here in NGA it’s nearly almost Christmas.
