I'm thinking you need a small brush with stiff but soft bristles(toothbrush?). And A LOT of elbow grease.Kevinboatright said:I think I’ll try a different type of solvent and brush combo before going to soda blasting.
Any idea what it would cost to blast something like this?#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Sad to admit that when I first saw this I missed it completely and just wondered what the heck was funny. Then, while on the way home today the oldies station played "Paint it Black," and it hit me. I plead old and slow.Fred19Flintstone said:

I have a few ideas on my next steps but need to make a run to the store tomorrow to grab the supplies.
Not sure what others do with their BGE Chiminea’s but I plan on using mine frequently, for both warmth, grilling, and just to use because they are cool. that being said I plan on restoring this as best I can.Atlanta, GA

Update: Found a method after some trial and error that got the paint off without damaging the egg. It’s back to its original color!

Made some new handles and used the wife’s vinyl machine to add the BGE logo. Then painted and cleared the handles and front cover.

You are more ballsy than I am! By the looks of the surroundings in that picture you have been doing all that rehab in your basement. I just hope for your family and you that this final picture was taken outside! I know that different states have different fire laws but doing that chemical agent stripping in a basement - or even a garage where your furnace/hot water heater is located would be a major violation and could mess up any homeowners insurance claim.Kevinboatright said:

No worries at all all.....the rehab was done outside then everything was brought inside when I was finished for the day, minus anything that reaked of lacquer thinner.RRP said:
