Is this the beefiest beef ever?
i went to the local butcher for the pork chops I love. I saw this and asked what it was:
Flatiron steak. Can’t say I’ve ever eaten it and definitely not cooked it. This piece of meat looked amazing. I had to stop myself from eating a bit off the end.
It got marinated in some oil and fresh herbs and garlic, and grilled hot and fast. (The actual color was closer to the red in the picture below than the picture above. Really intense.)
The kids said it was their favorite steak ever. It was super tender and amazingly beefy. Heck of a good piece of meat.

I've never cooked a flat iron steak, but my local butcher used to carry a Wagu flat iron. I wished I had given it a try.Nice looking cook.

A good flat iron is hard to beat. The trick is finding them. And they can be tough if not marinated or cooked properly, but tons of flavor!Central Valley CA One large egg One chocolate lab "Halle" two chiuahuas "Skittles and PeeWee"

Longhorn's sells a flatiron steak. When I eat there its what I usually order. Never seen it at the meat counter or grilled one.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

@jabam i cooked it to about 125-130 and cut across the grain. i was expecting it to be tougher but it was really tender. i do not take credit: it was a great cow.
@SaintJohnsEgger people rag on longhorn, but after a long drive, my favorite meal is their ribeye and a cold drink.

If you have access to a Kroger grocery store, they always have 'em in stock. As above, a great cut and flavor for the $$.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
I’m sure I could eat at least 3 plates like that.

My go to cut for everything from family style service steak to fajitas to stir fry. Huge favor, reasonable price an readily available around here.
Nice plate of food there! -
I can pick them up at Fareway here any time. They do have a strong, beefy flavor for sure.NW IOWA

Recently, our steak of choice has become flank steak. Hot and fast cook, and really tender if you marinate it (we use pineapple juice to speed it along). It's very similar to flat iron. Both cuts are less expensive than the typical filet/ribeye/strip selections. I think they have better flavor as well.

Looks great, also like this kind of meat. It's the reason I stopped cooking brisket, great tasting beef after a few minutes on the grill.Dave
