OT - A "Diversity" Idea - OT

While cooking on my BIG GREEN EGG and watching the news tonight, I learned Harvard now has a lawsuit against it for discriminating against Asian-Americans with their Diversity requirements. And I had an idea, a really good idea (I think), which is rare for me:

How 'bout this, I thought, as I removed the perfectly-seared protein from my BIG GREEN EGG: any school that employs "Diversity requirements" for admissions, must also use those "Diversity requirements" for their sports teams?

Whups, someone's at the door (thankfully I had just closed down my BIG GREEN EGG!), gotta run!

So... I know a fair amount about how college admissions tends to work at elite universities and my guess is that this lawsuit doesn’t get very far.  But time will tell.

Yeeaaaahh. When President Obama was called a monkey (on more than one occasion) and Michelle Obama was called an "ape in heels" it was all in good clean fun. Riiiiggghht.

@HeavyG GTFOH! Didn't even refer to the Obama's (and yes, in that context I'd consider it a racist poke).
This man didn't refer or hint of calling him an ape.  That would be totally understandable as racist.
How far and how deep between the lines are we or we going to read. I can't tell you how many times I  have told my son, when he was younger, with his friends "don't be monkeying around boys".  His friends were of all races.  The way the man said it was not racist nor wasn't meant to be. But these days, I think anything and everything is being taken out of context. Talk about walking on eggshells.

I agree completely. But WJXT Channel 4 sure jumped on the racist bandwagon right away. If that idiot socialist Tallahassee major becomes our next governor then we are going to be in a big mess.

I’m clueless about this governors race in FL other than little bits here and there.  What’s the deal with the dem and the socialist label, is he running as a socialist or what is he espousing that got him labeled as one?

No, he is out and out a socialist running his mouth much like Ocasio-Cortez (sp?) in NY and Bernie Sanders.  Since he is a young, handsome guy that can give a good speech, we'll see if he continues to run as a socialist or if he'll pull an Obama and not run on the policies he'd implement when governing.

We certainly know, with history and evidence as our guide, the media will happily collude with him to present a fake view of how he really feels.

Maybe we just need to get rid of the primary model and go the way of city council elections, let people run against all other candidates if they get enough signatures, then have a run off as needed.  too much is made of partisanship and not putting forward the best candidate, but the one that has best chance of success against the other party.  f-that.
