Looking for a better wood to use. I’ve only ever used western brand . Any input on where or what would be great .

    Frutia.
www.frutiawood.com non kiln. Open a box of peach wood from them and the fragrance will blow you away.
Rockwood also sells wood chunks, High quality as well. I am using their pecan. Very nice.

Slight spelling error in the  post.  Try this: https://fruitawood.com/

If you are ever in the Grand Junction, Colorado area, be sure to stop in at their store. The owner is a great guy and his wood preparation area is a must see.

Sadly, around 25 years ago, We pushed up the fruit trees in our orchard into burn piles and burned them. There were around 300 peach trees and 2000 apple trees.
The economics of growing fruit on a relatively small scale, had proven to us it was cheaper to buy the fruit rather than grow it. The fruit we were growing was being retailed in our families small farmers market.
Looking back, I realize the value of what we burned up. properly cut and stored, it was enough wood to run a smoking wood company many years. The trees wouldn't have needed to be pushed up all at once, they could have been maintained live until they were needed for smoking wood.

I picked up a bag of Rockwood chunks at Butt Blast and I have been impressed.
