MiniMax 2 Level Spatchcock Chicken W/ Cast Iron Brussels

Spatchcock chicken (with Mickey's rub) at 375 degrees with a cherry chunk, hit 150 in the white meat then threw on the brussels (with bacon), for about a half hour. Twas a great supper!

That's a CGS woo ring, with a 12" grate I got on amazon (13" is too large when raised to allow my MM to fully close), with an old cast iron pan I got at a garage sale and hacked off the handle, which now perfectly fits under the woo.
  • Thanks! Was the first part of the chicken cooked direct?

Looks awesome! I like that setup.

That MM is making me nervous on the edge of that table with casters. You live dangerously my friend.

Heh, I wondered if anyone would notice. I actually have some stainless bolts running through the MM stand rear feet and in to the table top, so it's not going anywhere. Fastened in place, it balances surprisingly well.

I'd be more worried about burning that wood deck down.

  • Which fire ring do you have?  I have the original wondering if this will fit or if you need the new lower ring

I've considered this, my risk tolerance allows me to use the eggs on my deck provided I'm religious about using the ember screen (I am), keep a close eye on things during (and long after) the cook, and showing respect to the egg.

I have the original, the taller one.

  • FYI if you’re like me and also have the taller ring Tom no longer sells the 075 Woo ring for the MM so duplicating this is no longer possible :(
