I was in a local establishment recently and ran across some Maytag Bleu Cheese. You may recall that they had a Listeria event that shut down production in 2016. They began producing again in September of 2017.....but I had not seen it available in my normal markets. Maytag has always been a favorite of mine, as it meets my taste for tartness and balance. No point here really except that is good to see it back in production and available. Yes I bought some and it was as I had remembered it. Welcome back Maytag Bleu.....for all of us Bleu Cheese lovers. That is all.

We share the same taste! I have yet to see any here either. Years ago we ate at the Amana Colonies in IA where the restaurant served it and I've been hooked ever since!

Thanks for the heads up. I only had one taste of it a few years ago, and was very pleased. I'll watch and see if some of the local cheese mongers get any, and if not, make a request.

I had been using that in my bleu cheese dressing recipe.

Same here Ron. It’s not close to being my favorite for a cheese plate but it’s my go to for Bleu cheese dressing. Hunt out some Kenny’s Bleu Gouda. Delicious on its own but awesome on a burger with caramelized onions and maybe some pickled strawberries.

Like many of you, I missed Maytag when it wasn’t in production. I was on a wait list and received a two pound wheel last November just in time for Thanksgiving. Maytag is conveniently available by mail. http://maytagdairyfarms.com/

I don't know a lot about cheese, but so far this is my favorite blue.
