Friend picked this up at a thrift store for me today.
It's an All-American 921. Built like a tank.

Thank you,

I have the same one. (Craigslist) They're built like a tank. Out of Wisconsin if I'm not mistaking. Gasket less is a big plus. Congrats on the score!

    Is this strictly canning?
was reading reviews about rougher interior not great for cooking food directly in pot because everything sticks.

I've really only used it for canning. I'll steam my pastrami in it but that's about it for food. I've watched a few videos on YouTube in the past where people were using them as a cooker.

You will have no problem selling it on Craigslist if you find something else. All American brand sells quick. Your friend found a great piece.

    You've got nice friends :)

If its rough on the inside, and solid aluminium, could you smooth it out a bit with a sander or wire wheel?

I have an American pressure cooker. It is really too big to be used on a cook top.
I have to use it on an outdoor burner.
    It's fantastic quality.

This one I believe was made in the 80s but it's almost identical to current model.
New or old, it's important to make sure your gauges and pressure valve are kept in good working order.

It looks pretty yuge.  Could you place a smaller lot inside to cook in?

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

    Yes, that's a possibility.
Almost too big to even use on my non commercial stove.
