I would imagine the over 40 crowd buys more than the under. Some of the dealers on here can answer who is buying, which may not be the same answer for which demographic BGE is shooting for.

  • I think this may be shifting slightly.

To me, BGE evokes “old-timeyness”, what with the wooden handles, cast iron vents and overall product branding. I would expect this to resonate with the 40+ crowd.

Interesting to see BGE sponsoring Stihl Timbersports as of late. I think that this is an attempt to cater to a slightly younger demographic - likely to give KJ, whose more modern branding appears designed to target a younger crowd, a run for its money.

I was 28 when I bought mine, but you need money to buy one and my age group either saves it or has none.

I would say in general it’s age 30+ and probably middle to upper middle class. Not many millennial baristas are probably buying a $1000 grill.

Agree with this as someone who is 30. Unless you are really into smoking and are doing well, no one my age that I know is really considering it over their current gas grills or Webers.

I was fortunate to receive my large egg last year as a gift from work as part of my promotion. With two young kids, mortgage, wife who stays at home, I definitely would not have been in the market for one any time soon. And if I did, I’d prob opt for a less expensive brand.

That said I’m definitely hooked now lol.

My guess is 40+. I bought mine about a year ago so I was 31 when I bought mine. I do think the younger crowd is getting more into BBQ. Even in Pittsburgh, we are seeing more BBQ food trucks and restaurants come along.  Some of the people doing the food trucks are pretty young. It is good to see people starting to see what BBQ really is up here. It is a lot more than throwing sweet baby rays on chicken you grilled on a gas grill.

I’m pretty sure the target demographic is people with disposable income, and lots of it.

Hey man!  I built that specifically to store all of the rubs and sauces I was acquiring.
