A broken base is not a good deal, they are expensive to replace and both inside pieces are cracked also.Jupiter Jim said:

It was also at our Costco yesterday, I checked it over and it looks great. Really liked the heavy felt gasket and everything is included. Plus, my wife said she really liked the color. They also had NY strip for 6.99 lbkl8ton said:

Just put it over a nonflammable area and have at it. Cracked base and all.

How is a free, usable, egg not a good deal? Ok, maybe you won't wanna do a 900° pizza in it, so use it for butts or brisket. Or cold smoke something. Just don't put it on a flammable surface (which you should never do anyway, cracked or not).
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Just be careful on bringing a cracked one into the garage. Air may keep that thing going.JMCXL said:So to be safe I keep it 400 and under?

A shop light for several days should dry it very slow . Beats cracking the base with a fire.
