If you want true angle control, buy an Edge Pro Apex and be done with it.  True mirror edges rule all.  I took it a step further with Chosera stones from chefsknivestogo.com.  Worth every single penny.
Chosera stones are the bomb!! They work much better than the edge pro stones, definitely worth every penny. The Edge Pro is an excellent sharpening system.

I've been sharpening my pocket knives to a mirror finish with a 20* micro bevel, and have issues with chipping. Seems like every other week the blade is chipped. The edge also seems to need a lot of maintaining. A few weeks ago I picked up a Mini Crooked River, and didn't have time right away to put a new edge on it, and it seems to be a little more durable than the polished edges. Doesn't look as nice, but seems to need a little less maintenance. I noticed I chipped the blade a little bit and took it to a x-fine stone and cleaned it up freehand yesterday. Going to let it ride a while longer and see how it holds up. All my recent blades have been S30V. I open boxes, cut a lot of plastic, cardboard, and occasionally drywall. Drywall is really hard on the edge, pretty sure thats what chipped it. I dont recommend doing that, but I'm not going out to the van to get a utility knife for couple of cuts when I have knife in my pocket.....
    Thanks for the tip.
Drywall is brutal on blades.  Cut a lot if it in my lumberyard days.

How do you like the mini CR?
I am about to pull the trigger on the original CR, the mini looks great too.  I may just buy both. Lol
My problem is, I want to buy it in a store where I can look it all over.  Centering, grind, fit and finish.  Whichever I see first, it's coming home.

Peeps with both are really fond of the mini, that isn't really a mini.  One of the best blends of new school old school.  BM nailed it with both CRs.

I have both Crooked Rivers. The original is too big for me to carry everyday, it is a lot of knife.  Camping and hunting, its great. If you like big knives, you'll love it.

The Mini is perfect for my EDC right now. In the past I've carried Spyderco PM2 & 3, Benchmade 940 & 943 and some Kershaws. The MCR is perfect. I love clip points, its big enough blade to do some cutting, not big enough to scare too many people, has a traditional look to it, very comfortable, small in pocket, S30V steel, one hand opening and closing. I like it!!

A lot of complaints about Benchmades quality control lately, buy in store if you can. I dont have a good knife store nearby so I order online. Of my 9 or 10 BM, only the 940 disappoints for quality. I'll probably send it in sometime.

I'll check that video out this afternoon.

I looked at the 940, green Aluminum scales, at Dix SG.  And it felt pretty good.
QC aside, would you prefer the mini over the 940?

The ZTs are tempting as well.
My store options are limited too.
Stopping by a Scheels soon.  Hopefully they have the mini.

I do prefer the Mini, mainly because I like how it looks. Size wise there almost identical, with the mini being just a little thicker. I REALLY like the clip point on the mini, and the wood scales. I have no complaints with the 940, its a great knife. Can't go wrong with either.

I have the wicked edge system, are the Chosera stones worth the upgrade for that system? Thanks

A lot of good suggestions here. But I am not looking to spend "Egghead Forum" type money on this right now. The Lansky system put a nice enough edge on all the knives I tried without any real hiccups or issues. And it did not take very long at all. I figure for now I will simply reprofile any knife that the preset angles do not match to one of the ones supported by the clamp setup of the Lansky. These edges beat the heck out of what my pull thru sharpeners can do. I am ordering a Lansky setup with 5 stones. Also an extra stone for serrated work. And a leather strop as well. Oh, also a base to support the work and a pull thru that matches the angles this Lansky system will support. All for under $100.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I watched a lot of vids over the weekend. Some real neat stuff out there.

I tried the Wicked Sharp....think thats what its called...grinder/buffer wheel that mounts on a bench grinder...worked ok but was awkward...tried the Ken Onion...could never get consistent results...maybe cause I'm left handed?.....got the 1" belt sander from Harbor F...works good...will occasionally use...last year my brother walked in and gave me one of these....was shocked at how easy it was...one or two stroked on each side and its done....now when deboning turkey/chicken or whatever...the minute I detect the knife is getting dull a couple of swipes and back in business.....
