Egging in the Rain

This weekend will be my first time trying to cook on the LBGE in the rain. I have just the standard DFMT, no smokeware cap. We're looking at more of a persistent drizzle than any kind of big storm (I hope).

Leaving the cook (me) out of if it for a minute, what do I need to do to survive? So far, we're thinking Green Lightning Shrimp, ABTs, and a possible pork butt.

Thanks.

Biggest issues are how the water impacts the cook and any electronic gear you may use.  Some cooks will melt if rained on!!!  ;)   It is also somewhat surprising how many outdoor cooking items cannot withstand outdoor elements.

In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’  Dare to think for yourself.

Heard that BGE is coming out with a new daisy wheel top. This one will be magnetic and will have a slot for a stainless steel umbrella to protect from the rain. Should be out this Spring

Fashion a tin foil cover over your daisy wheel.

For the princely sum less than$10 you can buy a roof pipe cap like this one of mine. just remember it will be HOT!

Leroy (@Spring Chicken) used to cook like that.

Or use a church key to poke holes in a coffee can (@Bear 007 posted this years ago).

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

The BGE doesn't care so just have at it.
And regarding the cook, remember you can only get so wet.  Studies have shown you will feel warmer if you minimize the wet clothing adhering to you.  So, I will let you assess how to work that option.  =)
