OT: Favorite show in Vegas?

Heading to Vegas Friday, for NASCAR weekend. Been doing this for years! Originally started as a guys weekend away. Golfing on Saturday, NASCAR on Sunday and a whole lot of gambling in between.

Over the the last few years, the wives have started making the trip. Now it’s golf Saturday AM, take the women to a show on Saturday PM, race on Sunday and a lot of gambling in between.

We prefer downtown (Fremont Street), rather than the Strip. Anyone been to a show they particularly like? We have been to many of the Cirque de Soleil shows. Looking for something a little different.

Honestly I like just hanging out @ The Piano Bar @ Harrah's.......I usually stay on Fremont, missing the Races this year

One of the gals found a dinner show called Marriage can be Murder @ the D, downtown. Seems to have good reviews, but I don’t know anyone who has personally been to it.

I Stayed @ the D a few months ago ( awesome suites) I heard the show was good, but did not see it myself......Let them go while you go down the street to Hogs and Hefers, now that is fun!

  • Sounds like you've seen most of the Cirque shows, but I always recommend Love at the Mirage for anyone who's even remotely a fan of the Beatles. We always stay on the Strip, but the people watching downtown can be interesting, especially on the weekend. Let us know what you end up doing. I'll be out there with the wife at the end of March.

    Britney Spears.....duh.

I think we may go to the show at the D, it’s a two hour show 6:30-8:30, just found out .38 Special is playing a free concert in Fremont at 9 so the timing is perfect.

@lkapigian have never been to Hogs and Heifers, but have heard plenty about it. It is actually right around the corner from where we are staying at Main Street Station.

Yup its a short walk- Love Main Street Station I always do well @ the poker machines at the bar. Hogs and Heffer  is a bit like Coyote Ugly but more "interactive"

We were there last March for the race, but we stayed at the Orleans, we didn’t make it to Freemont last year.

Yes! Right where the Zip Line ends, they tore out that old Strip Club and Casino next to it. Not sure how many trucks are there now but I know they made room for plenty

  • I always enjoy getting a hot dog and a beer at Container Park, or going to the Mob Museum - it's really interesting.  Have heard really good things about the show, Absinthe.

The Mob Museum sounds interesting, yes I have heard good things about absinthe as well.

Thats what I like about Vegas, I’ve been there so many times I’ve lost count, but you can still find something new to do!

Vinnie Favorito is the funniest comedian I've ever seen......used to be at the flamingo.  Don't sit in front if you don't want to be his ammo for the jokes.

The last time I "made my woman happy" in Vegas I was stuck, 3rd row, at "Riverdance"; dozens of men in tights tap-dancing for hours.
I haven't been to Vegas, nor for that matter, dated, since.   :o

If you are at Freemont, Triple George next to Hogs and Heifers has good comfort type food. Mob Museum just added some attractions. Like a simulated should you return fire police training.
Best repeating show we've seen is Carrot Top. Laughed a lot.
Blue Man Group and Absinthe seem to be love or hate it. We are in the hate camp for those two. BMG- if you watch the trailer at baggage claim or on TV, just multiply that for 90 minutes. Just freaking loud and stupid. Did I mention that we hated it?
  • Oh, and if you guys have never played Coyote Springs it's worth the drive. Out in the middle of nowhere past the Speedway then into the desert. Nicholas designed course that is well kept. About an hour from downtown.

It has been remodeled recently. We used to go see Big Elvis there all the time but don't think he has a show there anymore.

I had the pleasure of playing Shadow Creek about a month ago. It was unbelievable. Fairy expensive but cool experience.
