Mini Max / Small Green Egg. Why do you have one?

  • I have several eggs.  I have justified the smaller egg purchases as a method to empty money from my wallet.  They have no other practical use (buying a $600 grill does not save me money on lump).  But these cookers do not make economical sense, however they sure are fun to cook on.

MMX is a workhorse and is efficient.  Great for searing steak, roasting a whole chicken, and augmenting capacity of large.  It is brought along on trips to mountains and beach and is a great mobile pizza application.

If I didn't cater large parties for a volunteer group im part of, I could get by with L and MM only.  But I have 2 XLs, one Large and the Minimmax and the minimax is the last one added to the collection but it gets the most use by far

I use my mini A LOT more than my small at home. In fact, the small has been resting in the garage since Fall. The small is my mobile egg and resides in an EggCarten. My medium is my favorite egg to cook on at home and gets called to duty several times a week.

i stopped using my small years ago, its at a friends camp now. i do use a mini sized egg but its a vision. very surprised what a mini can do. ive done 20 something wings on it in one cook, overnight butts and pastramis, smaller deep dish pizzas, lots of dogs, it lights fast enough i can cook lunch in under 40 minutes including a 6 mile long drive from work and back.

I was attending my first Eggfest looking forward to picking up my first Egg (demo XL) and one of the cooks was using a Small. I showed it to my wife and she said “It’s so cute. Can we get one?”  I justified the purchase to myself by thinking it’d be quicker to heat up, save lump on our smaller sized cooks (cooking just for 2), and I could take it in our car to cook at my mother in law’s house.  My Small and Mini see the biggest % of my Egg cooking which is mostly for 2 or 4 people.

I have an XL, which was my first. My Beautiful Wife and I love to entertain, and that bad boy does the trick. When it is just she and I, now that the children are out of the house, the MMx gets used more for our meals.
I can't begin to tell you how nice it makes tailgating, or camping.
I (we) really enjoy the BGEs we have, and am close to adding a medium.

You don't really need two eggs.  Just stay with a large and deny yourself another nonessential toy.  Maybe you'll get it in another life?

I have a large BGE and a KJJ.   Life is good!

I use my small way more often the my large; a butt, spatchcocked chicken, large try-tip, 2 dozen wing parts, you can make the most of the surface area.

  • I love my MM and use it by far more than my XL.  It is perfect for the weeknight cooks.

I have an XL, a large, a medium, a small and a mini. I love my small.  It heats up fast, regulates well and uses very little lump. Mini gets used the least and large the most. If I could only have one it would definitely be the large. Just my 2 cents.

I have a LX, Medium and a MM. The MM gets used mostly when I vacation - easy to travel with (if someone helps me carry it). Just got the M a few months ago.  The XL gets 80% of my cooks, just love the way it comes to temp and holds a temp.  My next will be a Mini. No reason - don't need it but really want it
