I dunno Cap, I've been dropping boxes for 30 years and it really doesn't take much more effort to do it properly. Saturday deliveries by Brown is coming soon as well.

My credit union will turn our coins into cash or deposit for no charge.
I spent the majority of my working career in banking in controller and CFO positions. "We" often got blamed for promoting all the unpopular cost saving changes. Truth of the matter was in the '70's there was a wave of competition with premiums, fee wavers, free checking, FREE everything to match or surpass competition. It became cut-throat! By the '80's the FREE mindset had bottomed out and interest rates paid to savers was on a constant rise. Before long banks and savings and loan institutions were losing their butts! By then some "big boys" in banking started to bring in cost accountants and "time and motion" experts common to manufacturing. Standards were established up and down the line starting with teller positions. The nerds with stop watches reported how many transactions every teller should have by the hour etc and heads rolled! One of the least productive efforts was the taking in of unsorted bulk coin, hence either refusing to take coin or charging to do so became commonplace.

To this very day most banks will not accept bulk coin or charge to do so, but credit unions continue to be "the friendly financial institution".

Possibly but the recovery looks a little lazy. Maybe had some cleanup to do.

  • I can say that my bank will accept bulk coins with a blank deposit slip. The counter only works 1 day a week so it is an honor system of sorts. But in nearly 32 years, they have never got my balance/deposit/etc wrong. I had to go to them and get a copy of my April 2017 debit card charges today(billing dispute with someone else). There was no charge and the teller even highlighted the payments to the relevant business. Now their interest rates stink but I don't get nickeled and diced either.

I hear you about the stinking rates and I agree...but I also remember the years we gave away the store, had to pay 10% and above on certificates of deposit while ONLY earning 3 to 4% on our loans, mortgages and investments.

@lousubcap I apologize for kinda hijacking your thread rant, but it helped to do some ranting of my own, no matter if it was a bit selfish on my part, and I got some good information too. Thank you for the inspiration.

Might have been one of those type that kind of gets hung up and you need to do a few quick glances at the sun to get it to finally shake loose.

I would just deposit a dollar at a time in coins.  Use a slip and get a receipt everytime.

Its money, you are a bank, your job is to take my legal tender and store it.

Hey @Ozzie_Isaac keep a keen eye on all the coins.  When my uncle passed away, he had a good size box of coins and had some valuable coins in there including a 1901 Liberty $5 gold piece.

you would hate working in a bank now, i was going in there once or twice a week trying to get things right. now they send someone to my place to work it out. they screw up so much its insane.  one of my mortgages ipay on the first of the month, due on the 15th, i pay in person and get a late fee everytime. just went thru about 6 months of every business check i make out showing up with the same check number on the statement, not sure if thats even fixed yet. its nice they come to balance the books every month sorting that out=)  i have overdraft protection and get a charge of 35 dollars when they dont move money from one account to another when bills are due, its an automatic transfer, that was 2 hours yesterday on the phone.  dads in there today working on the savings rate, im scheduled tomorrow, brothers going in monday, have already told them we are pulling out if its not going up, have already told them someone from corporate better be there. a few weeks ago i asked what the rates were on a used car loan, 4 people later and it was discovered by the bank manager that they stopped doing car loans :o i deal with two banks, one for personal and one for business, the turnover rate on the personnel is 3 to 4 months. its insane.  this is my forum rant, you should see my "in the bank" rant =)

I have always been a big fan of "if it absolutely positively has to get there overnight". However lately I have to smh. We sold the big farm (1 of 3 and I'm not the owner just the GM) about 2 years ago and we needed more storage space for 7 years of records, christmas decorations, etc. etc. etc. so we leased vacant office/retail space in our local town. Great space with a garage access. About 6 months ago we started receiving notices of failed attempts of Fedex deliveries. We had never used that address on anything other than paying the utilities. We had a sign made with large NO DELIVERIES and instructions where to deliver or call and placed on the door exactly where the stickers had been placed. So today they found 3 more stickers right at the bottom of the sign.

So I arranged for my SRF delivery to be this Friday. It started its journey  from KC on Wednesday. Late last night my tracking app let me know it had arrived in Charlotte, NC and would be delivered today. Sweet, a day early. :)

A few minutes ago my tracking app pinged to let me know that now it went from Charlotte to Kernersville, NC today - a distance of less than 100 miles - and won't be delivered until Saturday. One day later than expected. :s

The distance from Kernersville, NC to Chesapeake, VA (FedEx distro site) is a bit over 200 miles. I won't be surprised if it does in fact make it to Chesapeake late tonight and does actually end up being delivered Friday as expected. :)

But maybe it won't actually make it until Saturday. :s

This is really quite an emotional roller coaster.

Yeah the first time I ordered SRF it was for a Friday delivery and didn't make it until Monday.   They sent a whole new order, and the original box went in the garbage can at the park across the street.  I think the raccoons were happy.

Tracking app says my SRF stuff is out for delivery so they were in fact just screwing with my emotions by teasing a Saturday delivery.

Now I just have to anxiously wait and see if they drop it off rightside up, upside down, or on its side. And see if they place it on the little bench I made for beside the door for parcels or they just set it on the porch. History says it's 50-50 either way.

FedEx delivery person placed the box on its side but did place it on the bench so it's a wash.
