OT Meal Train OT

I received some information about a sight, which is used to help support those in crisis: WWW.Mealtrain.com.

It allows you to donate money for the cause, or prepare a meal to help feed them during their troubled times. I know we have had the opportunity to make donations through the Go Fund Me, and occasionally the Go Fund Me sight will snag 10% off the top.

I am not aware of WWW.Mealtrain implementing a cut at this time. They may, I have not yet read anywhere, that they do.

It will give you dates to choose for the meals, and an opportunity to donate money, if needed.

We have joined others in doing this for a very dear friend of ours, She is so young to have have been given this extremely sobering news about cancer. She is currently recovering from surgery to remove it. However, they do not know whether they had, and the information they need to establish the care protocol will be delivered next Thursday.  She has already been told every 3rd week, during the next 6 months, she will be going through Chemo, and we, that are participating, are just trying to help her get through it.

Last night was our first night in meal delivery. We delivered roasted thai chicken vegetable soup, asiago and black pepper Foccacia bread with truffel oil, and a Chablis. With three growing boys, that stuff evaporated almost immediately. I came back home and made more.

I put this out there, as a possible alternative to Go Fund Me. I feel that both are great sources for help to those in need. Having the ability to team with others, to provide meals, is especially nice, given the task that family has to deal with in the days ahead.

I hope nobody has to use this for their friends, or loved ones, but if you do, the program is there to use.

Hug your family tight.

Peace.

We use this a ton for friends that have had highs (new family additions) and lows (ilness and death in the family). It is a great way to organize food for these events without the receivers getting bombarded in the first few days and then nothing. It’s a huge help for everyone. Great post!
  • Great post and way to help folks....

  • Good stuff. We used it when my dad went through chemo and began setting them up for friends who were sick, new babies, etc.

The best part is being able to sign up and say what you’re bringing to give some variety. Definitely beats a fridge full of church lady casseroles.
