Snow blowers

What's everyone have or wish they had for a snow blower?
I don't mind shoveling but anymore it's a time thing.

24" MTD two-stage that I bought new in 1992.  I have to put new tires on it this winter; they still have tread but won't hold air anymore.

    I assume this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

As I recall, they have had snow flurries up in north Florida recently, around Pensecola and Tallahassee, ( I firmly believe Talahassee deserves several inches of snow- or blizzard like conditions) but  down here it was 79 degrees today. Heck maybe its global warming, but I can't factually opine on a snow blower.

  • I'm looking for a 2 or a 3 stage, I have to measure a gate or two for maximum width to fit through....
    Yes I'd hope for a one-time purchase.

I have an older 5hp Tecumseh Yard Machine snowblower that was gifted to me from a neighbor/coworker. It's probably the most reliable thing I own. I started it this afternoon for the first time since last winter. It fired up on the 2nd pull. If you do end up buying a snowblower I'd suggest running ethanol free gas and a little fuel stabilizer never hurts. A snowblower sure beats shoveling!

    I’ve never seen snow.

  • I've had good luck with my Tecumseh Yard Machine as well, and I do the bare minimum as far as offseason care and upkeep. I highly recommend getting one with an electric starter.

I would MUCH prefer ANY amount of it to hurricanes. Or tornados. Or forest fires. Or mudslides. Or earthquakes... Or 110° days.

This was somewhere between 24-30". No big deal.

As for snowblowers, I have an Ariens. Had it for about 15 years. It's okay, nothing more.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I ain’t got nothing around here that blows snow. I do have ferns on my front porch still doing well if that helps. They say the best defense is a good offense.....what ever that means.

I've got a Toro Power Clear, last year Toro made 2 cycles.  Love the smell of a 2 cycle here in Winter, like smelling lighter fluid at the campground.  Brother has the same Power Clear, no issues.  Before that, my Dad handed me down a Toro, 1974 serial number.  I passed that on to my cousin, he's still using it.

My mower is a Toro Super Recycler.  14 years old, same spark plug and air filter, no issues.

I don't let mine shovel. She has had back surgery a number of years ago so we just don't risk it be with stuff like this.

Thinking of a 3x cub cadent or an Ariens I think

I'm in the Toro camp. We seldom get huge snow dumps so a single stage works for me. My one bit of advice is spend the few extra dollars now to get one with an electric starter. Nothing worst than trying to pull the cord on a COLD blower in the winter! I used to get so p*ssed I'd end up kicking my old blower and come close to having a stroke!!!

I have an ATV (2001) with plow and a Honda (2014) snow blower (like the both). I do my driveway and 2 elderly neighbors across the street. The ATV does a great job on their driveways.
