Ot-Lucky in Bourbon

Went to the local Sam’s club to pick up a Fitbit for a kids Christmas gift. I always walk thru the liquor department to see if they have anything new. When I got the the glass case I looked in and found that the had put out 5 bottles of Pappy(2 Rip Van Winkle,1 12year,1 15year, and 1 of the 23 year). When I attempted to buy them all the girl laughed at me and informed me that there was a one bottle limit. I ended up buying the 15 year for under $100. I called my fellow egg buddy and he ended up buying the 23 year. It was a good day all around.

Dang- definitely better to be lucky than good.  Great score.  I've never had the 23 yr old but of the others, I'm partial to the 15 year (over the 20 year).  You can definitely taste the wheat build with 'em just like any wheated bourbon.  Enjoy.  
Edit:  I don't know where you live but to find that in Sam's is amazing to me.

I’m in Columbia, Mo.  The trip would be wasted as someone else I know showed up an hour later and it was all gone.

That is so cool.  Here in Virginia, the state runs the liquor stores.  They have a "lottery" once a year - "winners" get to actually buy 1 bottle of Pappy for full price.  Yay.  Gub'mint.

Msrp $250. I am more interested in drinking it and I think the 15 year is fantastic. Have yet to try the 23 but will now have a chance.

I think the ABC has 4 lotteries going on now for PVW stuff. One of them is for a four bottle set of PVW items for $999.

Great for you.  I still remember be in our local liquor store maybe 4 years ago and Papa on the shelf and I purchased the very same bottle of $99...which was a splurge.  Marketing is key!
