Time has come for me to purchase a new TV. I need 65” or bigger. Have an LG now but it’s time for an update. I love the color of a Samsung but have never owned one. All the new technology that is out I have no clue what to purchase but the LG I have now is terrible when it comes to motion blur and trying to watch sporting events on it is terrible because of that. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I saw some 65 4K TVs at best buy for $800 price has come way down on them“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

Have 5 Samsung’s in house (20” to 55”) and wife loves she can use a single remote to run them all. They are on a whole house DVR, so she usually has 3 going when she is housecleaning! Great televisions. I just got a 65” TCL for my shop, and am impressed with picture quality. And it was 1/2 of what a Samsung would have cost me!

Yeah I have noticed prices has dropped big time. The LG I have is LED but now they offer OLED, QLED, 4K, UHD. It’s like purchasing a car. So many options. The motion blur is my main concern.

I looked at a LG 65” super UHD. 240Hz. Nice TV and a nice price. Haven’t pulled the trigger on it but thinking about it.

It's funny that you mention motion blur and LG. Years ago when the transition started to flat screen I was at someone's house who had a new LG. They were watching a basketball game and I thought "LG SUCKS!!!!" The problem was it is a 60 hz. When I made the switch I ended up with a LG 120 hz and had no motion blur. 120 is now old school.
For those of you with Amazon Prime, most TVs have the app so you can watch Amazon Prime Video for free. -
If motion blur is your greatest concern, move toward the higher refresh rates.XL BGE - Adjustable rig combo, Rutland gasket, 4:11 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake

Also in the market for a new 60-65" set. Was looking at a Visio the other day that impressed me, 4K UHD with a 120 refresh rate.
Connectivity and just how smart the set needs to be might also influence your buying choice.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad! -
I bought a 65" Samsung 4K from costco on Friday for $749 and love it.

Samsung 100% for TV's just keep it at that Samsung refrigerators suck.

@Skiddymarker - Great plan for the upcoming A's season. Go forth and enjoy. Best of luck- these days for me buying high end electronics is almost as bad as buying a friggin car. Can’t say enough about my current Sony 65” a1e. Replaced an lg oled (nothing wrong with it, just went to another room in the house). Had too good of a deal available on the a1e to not take advantage of it. Just recently after a few months of ownership had it isf calibrated and loving it even more. Picture quality is fantastic, and motion is handled very well due to their x1 extreme chipset. Depending on the space your tv is going in or your preference for brightness levels you may want to look at Samsung QLED TVs as well. My only major gripe with it is that Sony has still not released the “promised by end of 2017” Dolby vision update for it, and we are running out of days in 2017. The audio technology in the tv is pretty neat as well (but I typically use external speakers so not too big of a concern for me).

The one thing I don't like about the Samsungs is the highly-glossy screen; they're fine if they're in a darkened room, but in an upstairs living room with windows on two sides there would be bad glare. That's why a got an LG (7 years old now) with a matte screen and LED/local dimming.
I'm still very happy with it. When it dies and ready for a replacement, I'm definitely going OLED. I can see the picture difference with 4K only when I'm a couple feet away from the screen, a position I never watch TV; the OLED difference I can see from halfway across a Best Buy store. Sony has now switched to OLED screens also, and I understand their "upscaling" (improving the picture from older, 720-type sources) is the best in the business, so I'd look at them along with the LGs. Consumer Reports also gives very high marks to the Vizios.
Good luck!___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

Best option absolutely is the LG OLED. Samsung QLED is a great secondary choice.

I’m still on the fence after reading reviews. I can buy the LG SUHD for $1200 or the LG OLED for $2200. Both 65” just not sure I want to pay an extra $1000 for the newest technology.

The Sony X900e line is (arguably) the best bang for the buck.

i like my old sharp aquos. the screen on it is flat black, non glare. with the lake and sun angles, shiney glare would be a nightmare for me. in need of a screen at camp, will be looking for no shiney screens there as well to replace the 30 year big box. must have taken me 3 weeks to adjust color and contrast on the sharp, dont ever want to do that again
