Meat Grinder Kubbe Attachment

Looking at making a purchase on a meat grinder. I've got the make and model pretty well narrowed down. Some come with a Kubbe attachment. To those of you that have that attachment, have you ever made any interesting apps with it?

I have one, never use it but appetizer uses, could be from any stuffed meat or pasta. IMO, it is easier to by large pasta to stuff, or stuff your own meat by hand. the Kubbe attachment would not be a game changer.

What is the reason for your grinder purchase, and which ones are you looking at

I'd like to get into sausage making. I have a stand mixer, but honestly I can purchase a grinder from harbor freight, which has excellent reviews, for less than a mixer attachment.

I am also looking into a grinder and a stuffer from a nearby distributor called Waltons.

@MattBTI my first grinder was from Harbor Freight, worked like a champ. I have since Re gifted it and upgraded to LEM Big Bite, but bang for buck the harbor freight is great. I do recommend no matter, get a dedicated stuffer. The Grinder is OK for a pound our two

Waltons Inc sells Weston I believe and look like sound products

MattBTI, I have to second Ikapigian comments. I also started making sausages with a Kitchen-Aid attachment, it was just OK at best. I then went to a Kitchener grinder as I needed more grinder plate sizes. The Kitchener grinder was very good at grinding and probably would have been my grinder of choice. I had decided to upgrade to a #12 LEM Big Bite, not because of any issue with the Kitchener but I had received a few gift certificates to LEM and LEM had sent me 30% off any item after Christmas sale email. To me it was a no brained and like Ikapigian I regifted my Kitchener. Also like Ikapigian mentioned invest in a dedicated stuffer. The Kitchen-Aid stuffer attachment is a piece of junk in my opinion. You really need two people to stuff your sausage. The sausage output is high so you need to make some kind of platform to place the stuffed sausage on. I have to LEM 5lb. stuffer and it works really well. Good luck.

Thanks @Retired RailRoader & @lkapigian. I've got pheasant in the freezer from last weekend and some pork fat that I'm planning on mixing to make my first batch. Hopefully by the new year I'll have made my first go with home made sausage.

I've made sausage only a few times. No stuffer, so just patties. Mostly from chicken and not very good. Some pork too, but it wasn't very tasty either. Probably not enough fat or salt or both.

If anyone needs stuff from Harbor Freight, I just saw their 20% off coupon on their home page. Good thru 11/19. Grinder/Stuffer list is $55, so $44 with coupon. I have the KA grinder and for no more sausage or ground beef than I  do, it's fine. But everything I read says NO to their stuffer attachment so I won't bother with that. For those who have the HF Grinder/Stuffer, how does the stuffer function work?

Anyone ever use a "sausage caulking gun" for stuffing sausages? Looks like a fun and inexpensive way to try it out. But then, I imagine the HF device is too.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
