A Big Shout Out To DoubleEgger!

A big thanks to DoubleEgger for helping me out with my DSLR journey. Not only did he help me out, he offered to sell me a couple of his lenses he wasn't using. I couldn't pass up the opportunity. The price he was selling the lenses for was a gift in itself. DoubleEgger even mentioned that I could try the lenses out first and than decide if I wanted to buy them. That just shows you what a type of guy he is.

So I dropped by the post office to pick up the package. I get home and open it up. The first thing I see is a plastic bag full of pecan smoking wood. What? Wow! Not only do I get smoke wood, Double sends me two rubs with the lenses!

Too be honest I'm speechless. Thank you! I know how busy you are around the house with everything. I didn't want to be a hassle already with the lenses. You go out of your way and than some. Top notch in my book. Thanks DoubleEgger!

Thanks for the kind words buddy. I hope those lens work out for you. The rest of the stuff was box filling material. Wish I had bigger box so I could have sent some more pecan. I figured it might be hard to find up there.

Very much appreciated! I have a random mix of apple, black cherry, cherry, peach, pear, lilac, mesquite, and oak. No pecan. I'm looking forward to trying it out. I don't think I can find it around here other than maybe in wood chips. That might even be a stretch. Thanks again DoubleEgger for everything!

You're right there with DoubleEgger. You've been a HUGE help with going over DSLR cameras with me. You were the one to help me see the light with the DSLR. I would have probably just convinced my wife that we should get something else if it weren't for your emails. Still no camera yet but will be borrowing my Dad's to see what this black Friday brings for sales. I still might bug you yet with a few questions. Again, much appreciated Tarheelmatt!

That pecan is excellent with spatchcock. Try it with Mickey's Rub.

A lot of folks I know around here are using pecan exclusively. I'm down to oak and pecan with about 80-90% pecan use.

Thanks for the idea. If I end up on the egg for Thanksgiving I know what I'll be using for smoke. ;) I onky use Mickeys rub with turkeys. It sounds like the perfect combo!

Something completely random, Sgt. Slaughter used to be my Dad's barber back in the day. I was also a fan of his when I was younger. I ran into him at the convenience store around 6th grade. I'll never forget it. I had to round one isle to get to the next. As I'm rounding the corner looking down minding my own business I happen to look up and there he is. All I can see is an American flag draped around his shoulders, army outfit, boots, and bomber sun glasses. Okay maybe he was wearing a sport suit jacket but man was it awesome! The guys shoulders were a mile long. I was way too shy and intimidated to say anything. Fun times!

Yes.  JYD all day long.  Mid South Wrestling was where it was at.  The Von Erich's were great too.  I still get fired up every time I hear, "Tom Sawyer"
